It's Quiet 18 - Wanna ring the bell?

Sell Bernardo as well, he’s offering very little really these days; zero goal threat and very few assists, plus he’s physically quite weak. We need more powerful, dynamic midfielders.

Nunes should go too, simply not the required standard.
We won’t, unless they want to leave. There is absolutely no reason Bernardo , Nunes can’t be part of the squad going forward. Maybe replace those players the year after. Same with all the other names people throw around.
2 in January 3 or 4 in the summer is quite enough turnover of players to bed into the squad.

This isn't football manager. Talks of us getting rid of half a dozen players at once this winter/summer 25 is wild and just not happening.

Aside from anything else, who is going to buy them?

Walker has a cushy 2 year contract until 2026, nobody is going to be interested in him and why would he decide to wave off his last big pay day? There might be a conversation where we attempt to agree a mutual termination but I wouldn't say that's likely. it makes no sense for him unless saudi want to offer him a lot of money on a free. he wants that century of England caps though which will die if that happens. We should probably prepare for walker to be around for another year yet. Gundo i also expect will be kept. One last year but this time in the role he was brought in for originally will be fine, it's only been an issue because he's been thrust into a much bigger and unfavoured role and with not much if any support.

Kdb is going to be about fitness, he's still the biggest and often only threat we have even when he's barely walking. Would be a bold move to let him go this summer but we might have to simply because we cant get rid of others.

Grealish is surplus to requirements and a huge financial drain but absolutely nobody will be putting a bid in for him so we're stuck with his 300k a week wages for no output until his contracts done, got another 2 seasons before we can release him.

Mcatee is probably moved on but it doesn't change anything, he's taking an academy spot in the squad that will remain unused otherwise, changes nothing but adds a little bit extra to the coffers.

Maybe Nunes is made available, he's nowhere near top of the list of problems but given his age, and relatively smaller wages he'll actually be one of the more saleable assets, will still likely be a loss on sale though. His departure wouldn't really help freshen the squad up either, hes one of the few that can actually run and has plenty of years ahead of him.

Other than players wanting to leave, i can't see who else would even be in the conversation.

The changes will come much slower than many are suggesting. 2 summers time is when a lot of changes will be seen at once if that is to happen when a lot of contracts are up. walker, gundo if we trigger his extension, bernardo will finally return home as he's been wanting for years, stones possibly transitioned out as his injury concerns are unlikely to improve. That's when the big changes will come. We have a few spaces still unfilled, we'll make a handful of signings to fill them spots and possibly 1 or 2 departures and that will be it until 2026.

we'll have to make sure the signings in the next 2 windows are all massively and instsntly successful.

Just watching Newcastle game to see Bruno g and the one player I’d love more than any other on the pitch is Antony Gordon.

He plays with such aggression, energy is a goal threat and always looks to make something happen. And still only 23! If Newcastle really are desperate for sales then he should be the one we target imo. Just don’t see it with Bruno (not just because of this game either!)

Gordon’s got the dippers written all over him. Tonali is there best player and would be a great fit for us. Odds against that happening though…..

Agree re Gordon, pretty sure he is a Liverpool fan as well. But still I’d love him he is such a brilliant player.

Haven’t seen a lot of tonali tbh but he has been the best midfielder of the 3 Newcastle players so far imo.

He's been injured. He played the full 90 against Arsenal.

Working under a manager who expects you to get rid of the ball as soon as possible doesn't help. IF we signed him he could become another Stones - but we would have to accept a good year or so of coaching out the Dyche-isms.
Still not enough quality for me to take a gamble.

Yes this is basically what I wrote. I just said that over a 5 year period the cost for the club will be the same regardless if it's 100m & 50m or 50m & 0. With other words, not the end of the world to make a book loss on a player unless you have immediate problems of meeting PSR.

Just wrote my post since the way some people are talking one could think its better to sell a 50m signing before his final year for 10m and no book loss than to sell him for 20m after 2 years at a 10m book loss. When the player has cost the club 50m regardless and 20m in is more than 10m in.
I don’t think we are saying the same thing at all as your suggesting we realize a loss all be it a small one I am saying we won’t realize a loss we will sell for book value

If that’s the case we are well fucked then . Absolutely criminal giving Walker that contract .

It made sense at the time, he was still the best right back in the world, we don't get 4 in a row without him. I suspect the second year was the only way we kept him. The mistake was not getting his replacement in before it was desperately needed. If we had another fullback at the club, he wouldn't be on the pitch enough to fuck up so much.
