It's Quiet 18 - Wanna ring the bell?

If we really wanted to spend big in January, here's my list of who could be available and how much:

  1. Martin Zubimendi: £51.5 million
  2. Bruno Guimarães: £66 million
  3. Florian Wirtz: Estimated around £50 million
  4. Ederson: Estimated around £60 million
  5. Adam Wharton: Estimated around £40 million
Adding these up, the total cost would be approximately £267.5 million.
  1. Martin Zubimendi: As a defensive midfielder, he could provide solid cover and balance in the midfield, especially in defensive transitions.
  2. Bruno Guimarães: His creativity and ball control could enhance City's midfield dynamics and link-up play.
  3. Florian Wirtz: With his attacking prowess, he could offer additional options in creating chances and scoring goals.
  4. Ederson: He could strengthen the defensive line and add more options in defense.
  5. Adam Wharton: Another midfield reinforcement, he could help maintain a strong presence in the middle of the park and provide depth for future matches.
Adding all five would give us a well-rounded squad capable of stabilising us and would be better rotation and reduce the risk of injuries due to overplaying our key players (Kev, etc).
5 new players in a team isn't something we have done for a long time if ever? Adding 5 players into a team is a huge risk, but apparently we can afford it and these players may be available so who knows? And yes I have been drinking!
Aside from the low values as others have pointed this is wishful thinking

City's wage bill, I know its higher because of bonuses, is too high so to add 5 more players costs >£50M / year is high likely
There are also restricts on squad make up to consider and UEFA only allow for 3 squad changes or so, this is assuming we qualify for next stage
There are also PSR restricts to consider with new squad spend being link to turnover and this is getting more restricted each season
Of course some of the above can be offset by getting rid of dead wood but that can be costly in easing the players out

Isn’t the talk that we want a midfielder, right back and forward in Jan? So I assume we’ve moved on from Bruno G already?
Potentially moved from Bruno to Zubi. Bruno put out a statement which was either goodbye or I’m staying.

For our issues currently I’d say Zubi is a better signing.

I just don't understand how the money is suddenly available now but wasn't in the summer. Such poor planning last summer which has come back to bite us on the arse and now we're panicking
Makes sense to me, or at least I can understand the thinking. It was never about money. No we aren't panicking.

Tbh I see it the opposite way. Bruno G has more energy, better duel winning. I also see him as being more versatile in the different midfield roles he can play, so when Rodri is back I see much more clearly how Bruno G and Rodri can play together. But I’m less confident about how it works with Zubimendi. For me, Bruno G would be a miles better signing but if it’s not possible, it’s not possible.
