It's Quiet 18 - Wanna ring the bell?

It’s not the sales which are an issue it’s the purchases just haven’t been good enough. Complete waste of time trying to build a title winning team round £50mill so called bargains. As more of the previous quality gets older it becomes more obvious that the so called bargains aren’t really all that. We now have predominantly average players and some world class players the wrong side of 30. The longer the poor buys continue the worse and more costly it will become. The main problem we have is sentiment
Major issue being we need that many players we are going to have to spend 30/40m on players.

If it was just replacing keV then yeah put 200m on the table for Wirtz but we need several players and we won't be spending 100m each.

No it would have taken a more forward-looking manager than Jose Mourinho. Especially De Bruyne you had to be blind to see. Went straight off Chelsea's bench and was the best player in germany.

What is the excuse for Palmer then? One of the best players in the league not two years, not one year but a month after he left us? Better players in front of him? We sold Mahrez and signed a project player from Rennes. Gundogan went on a free. As we know De Bruyne got injuried. Even if you say we couldn't plan for De Bruyne (which we should have, he is aging and has been injury-prone most of his career) there is no way you can look at how our squad has turned out and say that selling one of the best players in the league isn't a mistake.

The only question you need to ask yourself is would he start for us now?
Chelsea form yes City form no. Hindsight is wonderful at times.

We talk about elite players and hen we say it wouldn’t be all bad if we didn’t get champions league footiei mean even when we won the treble and smashed everyone will struggled to attract the elite players so can you honestly think the likes of wirtz and musiala have any intention of coming to us . We need a reality check amongst a lot of our fans as they actually believe we can go toe to toe with the likes of Madrid Barca Bayern etc . If we don’t get top 4 and it’s now almost certain we will not be shopping on the top shelf .

So you think Cole Palmer were given enough minutes to build any sort of form at City?(again lets ignore his actual City form was two goals in two finals in the two games he got before he left)

Based on how good we now know he is as a footballer on this level, do you honestly genuinly think he wouldn't have shown this quality for us if given the chance over a reasonable spell of time? Especially now when we know we would have needed him already last year despite clawing back Arsenal in the business end. We certainly would need him now

Based on hindsight, which is really all we have to judge anything in life on, wouldn't you agree that those who judged him good enough to stay in the squad were right? And Pep should have done more to implement the quality we now know he posesses because he got a run at Chelsea into the first-team, rather than run a youth policy that Cole Palmer rightfully would look at and think "if I want to build real competetive experience, I need to get out on loan"?
And when we already got into that situation, instead of accepting his wish we end up selling him for a fee that looked way too low already 2 months into his Chelsea tenure? And gave Chelsea a great player?
