It's Quiet 18 - Wanna ring the bell?

But some clubs are just built to sell? Say the 3 options are Zubimendi, Ederson and Nico Gonzalez, 2 of them have release clauses so it’s all about the players? If both say no now then imo it’s a lifestyle choice and not sporting? So that would leave Ederson and if Atalanta would normally value at €50m but don’t want to sell but we think he could be a mainstay for the next 5 years plus and help us get top 4 now, push on in the champions a league and maybe win a trophy then we should offer €70-75m if he could help with that? All clubs know we desperately need reinforcements now and the same in the summer so time of year isn’t going to make that much difference?
Of course the time makes a difference this year more than most
If I am one of those players my response would be
Sorry I know you are interested and so am I but I want to see how the 115 pans out
I understand I have a release clause but I would need to uproot my family and don’t want to do it again in a few months if things go wrong
Let’s do it in the Summer

These clubs can and will get the same money for their players in the summer , so selling now gives them no advantage. As for release clauses then yes, but seems some like Zubemendi are reluctant to leave their clubs in the middle of a season, which is admirable IMO.

Hmmm I don't agree with that. He does benefit from Joelinton & Tonali, but him & Kova would be a good double pivot. Him and Gundo would also be better than quite a few midfield options we've had. In fairness to Gundo, his weaknesses have been exacerbated by who he has been paired with - stick him alongside someone athletic, good at duels etc and he can just dictate play.
Kovacic isn’t suited to that role. His defensive positioning and ability are woefully short.

This little used by City transfer window, is the best window for bargains, but before you use it you have to prepare, for the shortest window, with the least players available and the least quality available. You have to know who is vulnerable, and who wants what.
Newcastle for example, are they in need of cash? they do not want to sell Bruno or Isak, but would they sell Botman, Brighton want to loan Furguson. We are vulnerable due to needing a midfield, and my choice would be Zakaria and Ederson, we are going to have to pay big because we are vulnerable, but if we get Khusanov in Quickly that will be a very good bit of business. A pacy left back would change our expectations this season as well, Kerkez would be my choice but again that would be hard in January.
Out on loan O Reilly, Pep has wasted 6 months of his growth, and bringing Gundogan on with City 4:0 up instead of him says it all, 18 months abroad will do us and him a world of good.

We need two players in minimum for Brentford.

We got lucky against West Ham who are a poor team. I dread to think what Brentford would do against our legless midfield.
You dont always get what you want or nedd though, Hope we do l, think we will but people need to accept it might not be possible

But there’s no guarantee the verdict is out mate? And then appeals etc?

With Zubimendi it seems like he just likes Spain and nothing to do with loyalty mate?
