No idea, lolReally
The problem is that some naysayers express their opinions as facts justifying their attack on the club. If said posters were more sensible in their words, the thread would be a lot smootherI'll never have a go at anyone on here for being optimistic that City will sign some players this window, because we'd all like that - but I have to say I'm quite confused and frustrated by the people who are criticising other posters for daring to suggest that we won't sign anyone intended for the first team this month. I'm quite happy to say publicly that I would be surprised if we did.
All the evidence points to our current board having a very strong opposition to making signings in the January window. It's odd that people earnestly bring up Laporte, Dzeko and De Jong; they were seven or more years ago and clearly our opinions on the January window have changed since then. Laporte was also a bit different because we had him in our sights long before he joined.
Again I don't blame any of you for hoping that we might bring in a couple of first-team players, but I also think it's a bit shitty to mock posters who assume we won't buy anyone this month as moaners or overly negative just because 'this is different from usual seasons'.
Fact is we've had plenty of windows wehre we've all said 'surely we have to buy a dedicated left-back this month' and we've been wrong every single time - oh, except for Gomez and Angelino, who I think it's perfectly reasonable to suggest that Pep did not want and never intended to use frequently.
I would love to be wrong and for Tolmie to be right. I'd love it if three first team players turned up this month. I just feel that those of you who are going 'oh why are you always so negative' to anyone who dares suggest otherwise are more likely than not to be in the wrong come Groundhog Day.
ExactlyNo idea, lol
You could argue that is the price the club will have to pay, by not acting earlier.Unless there is a buyout clubs can take the piss! They could say it's 60m then when we say yes they move the goal posts last minute trying to get an extra 5m
You make a good point and I do agree. I suppose the best way I can express my personal position is this. The problem is that some naysayers express their opinions as facts justifying their attack on the club. If said posters were more sensible in their words, the thread would be a lot smoother

I wouldn't be surprised if we don't buy any first-team players this month, but I'm very happy to accpet that this is a one-off bad season and the board have earned trust from us to do what's right.

Just gotta breath and hope something pans out. Lots of players to get but lots of factors that make things tricky/slow moving. All the fun of the fair. Lets ave it .we certainly fed some stories to our mouthpieces we will be active in the market this January. also Ornstein reported the same who I dont think is our mouthpiece (in the way of Gaughn or M. Blackburn) but probably the most reliable transfer journo in the UK.
Pep also said we need new players to help us.
fucking hell if this turns into us not getting any decent player in. the way I look at it whoever we get will have a 5-6 months of head-start in our rebuild which is needed big time compared to the ones that arrive in the summer 2025. but might give us extra legs, energy already in Feb, March, April, May which we also need big time...
