I'm not convinced we we spend anywhere near £300m I wouldn't be surprised if we ended up winning the net spend trophy again.So, we have Kovacic for £25m and hopefully Gvardiol for £85m soon. We have sold Trafford for £14m and Charles for £10m and have the Porro sell on £10m as well? Tolmie mentioned a £300m transfer chest for this summer and maybe 2 more incomings? I wonder why the club won’t just do the Gvardiol fee and get it done? I’m also quite surprised we didn’t do Maddison for only £40m as I don’t see us getting any huge name transfer so the budget won’t get used?

I’m not arguing about whether it’s a good or bad idea to sell to a rival by the way, I’m just noting that Pep has often said he won’t stop players from leaving and we have seen last season that City seem quite happy to sell to arsenal.

We're back on Monday the 17th. We play Yokohama F Marinos on Sunday the 23rd. CFG owns 20% of that club...I completely trust the club as they rarely get it wrong when it comes to transfers - but it is unsettling that nothing seems to be happening.

- Gvardiol seems to have all gone quiet
- No one who I expected might leave seems to be leaving - Silva, Laporte, Mahrez, Cancelo
- Even the usual young players being loaned out isn't happening
We've just won the treble, we now need to defend these trophies and to do that we need quality additions, and dead wood shipping out.
I'm not complaining - just surprised as the players are back in training next week (or the week after?) and we normally have all our transfers wrapped up within a few weeks of the season ending.

- We perhaps made a bid for Rice but WHU wanted more than we were prepared to pay
- Why would City or Leipzig give daily updates on Gvardiol?
- You weren't expecting Gundogan to leave?
- We've already sold or let go at least two youth players, but they usually get mentioned or sorted towards the end of the window (1st of September BTW)

Think this is just some wishful thinking from Arsenal fans. They have a player who is out of favor and think they can do some kind of a swap. Wont happen since we obviously have no interest in signing Tierney. He is benched by Zinch, a player we sold because he couldn't get enough minutes with us. Agree, money can't be the primary factor in every situation. I wouldn't consider Arsenal an option period. I'd take the 30 mil and send him to Italy or Spain every time...Nobody outside of PL will/can pay that much. City receiving a €50-60m offer for Laporte from a club like Juventus/Inter/Atletico/Sevilla is just completely unrealistic since neither can afford it or would be willing to spend that kind of money on a defender with no resale value.
The only real question is, would we rather:
a) Keep him, with him most likely getting less minutes than last years 12 PL appearances and possibly selling him for even less next year with him costing the club an additional €7m in salary.
b) Sell him for €50m to a PL rival, getting the most money possible but strengthening a competitor for the league and also having to see him in a rivals shirt.
c) Sell him to the highest non PL bidder this summer, which at this point looks like being Juventus with a €30m bid.
I can see arguments being made for all alternatives. I would rather just keep him, as long as he doesn't cause any problems in the locker room from being unhappy with minutes. But if City suspect he could do that, I would rather just sell him to Juventus than to Arsenal. Not strengthening our rivals is more important than 20m, in my opinion.
Because that would have long lasting effects in the future. Just because we have a lot of money doesn’t mean we should just bend over and pay whatever everyone wants. All clubs would start asking for more money. Shown plenty of times in the past we’ll walk away if it gets too expensive, and we’ve usually found great alternatives
I don’t think anybody who is realistically interested in Cancelo is going to bid early in the window. Bombed out by city and Bayern. Arsenal and Barca are 2 viable options. If you’re either one of them you’ll offer an another loan deal with a non compulsory transfer towards the start of the season, because we’re desperate to get rid. So if he goes to either and he’s crap send him back to city. If it works he’ll only have 1 year(?) left on his contract he will go for £10m. Unfortunately we’re not in a strong negotiating position on this one.The only thing I'm concerned about is the lack of news in regards to Cancelo. Does no one want him?
Being ‘bombed out’ because of a shit attitude (not playing ability) is a massive red flag. Decent teams won’t touch.Being “bombed out” by City and Bayern isn’t exactly a case of being a shit player. Now, if you were “bombed out “ by United or Spurs then I’d be worried.
