Foot off the gas as weve reached the pinnacle
No, we have to cement ourselves. The Guardiola era has to cement itself as the most feared EPL team in history for decades to come. We have to make history and break more records, win more EPL and and more Champions league trophies. There is no pinnacle, only new heights above the ones we have reached. Our next high is winning 3 champions league trophies in a row. The first English team to ever do it. We never die on this hill, we reach for a new one and we conquer it.

I still refuse to believe that those running this club would be so complacent. Having won the Treble there’s no way they won’t want to go for it again. We won’t get anywhere near that without replacing any first team players who leave. When you look how well we’re run, and how demanding Pep is, there’s no way we won’t be looking for options to bring in that can improve us.

No way we sit on our arse letting rivals strengthen, it’s just harder to find players that may be available that are good enough for us so it’ll take time. A few weeks left of the transfer window yet.

Only worry I have next season is injuries. We were lucky last season that we didn’t have many serious ones, but with players in the squad that have had massive fitness problems in the past, last season was an anomaly for some. The squads small an injury to a key player in the first eleven could weaken us significantly.

Isn’t that the same for any squad? I don’t think having basically two first teams works. Pep prefers a smaller squad and I think it makes more sense. You can’t keep all the players happy with a large squad - our best players start all the biggest games

That's exactly the vibe I'm getting. Feels like we're being complacent.
The difference is that there is a very small pool that will improve what we have. Does the club make a similar signing to the rags with Mount, £60m for a player who wouldn't be much different to Phillips situation. Giving McAtee/ Bobb & Palmer (if he doesn't go out on a season loan) a real chance will show where we are with the academy lads.

I've also said this and the club needs to be aware. Luckily we do have a lot of versatile and intelligent players

I hate this type of arguments. No one wants to have two first teams. But if you think there is no problem with the squad we have right now, I don't know what to tell you. I assure Pep is not satisfied with the size of the squad now.

Right now, we have 13 players who can fight for a starting position. After those 13 players the quality drops significantly. If someone fron the future tells me that none of those 13 will get injured in the season, then sure our squad is good, but that is very unlikely.

13 competing to start?

Ederson
Walker
Ake
Akanji
Laporte
Dias
Stones
Kovacic
Rodri
KDB
Silva
Grealish
Foden
Haaland
Alvarez

That’s 15 without Phillips or Cancelo

Do you want the club to pay 50 to 60 million for a player to sit on the bench hoping for an injury, that sounds like Phillips situation. Other than long term injuries we can more than cope. That's forgeting that Haaland rarely played 90 minutes after being injury prone at Dortmund

We had Aguero, Balotelli, Dzeko, Tevez at one point and guess how many were happy and managed to stay on longer than 2 years?

But more recently we had Bernardo, Sane, Sterling, Foden, Jesus and Mahrez all at one time playing wingers.. guess how long they stayed happy at the club with their low playtime?

Maybe you need to go watch the.. "You're sad! There are many sads! No more sad faces guys!" again before you think you know better than Pep.

You may hate it but that's the reality.

Edit: You might think McAtee, Perrone, Palmer are useless but last year.. Pep benched Walker and Cancelo for Rico Lewis.. someone you haven't even mentioned in your 13. LOL!
