if rumored players leave
That's an extremely weak squad.
When we lost Toure, Silva and Aguero we didn't go looking for the same type of players maybe if it will be the same with Gundogan replacement.
if rumored players leave
I think Kovacic is, he isn't at the level Gundogan is but I'd put him at 80% of Gundogans level now and with a few months with Pep he'd be approaching Gundogan's levels.Out of curiosity, and a question for others who watch far more leagues, if Rice is not seen as a Gundo replacement, who is out there who could be ?
And I'm not talking about the likes of Kimmich, FDJ.
Yes. similar ot how gundp plays the role as a 6.Can Kovacic cover Rodri? If yes then he is indeed Gundogan's replacement. Ideally Bernardo stays but if he does leave then Foden will be the one slotted in his position and getting his minutes as he can also play on the wings. I think the club's next transfers will depend on what happens to Bernardo or Mahrez. Whether it's one or both leave my ideal replacement is a versatile CM that can play on the wings. This Rice links doesn
I agree that we evolved, rather than attempting to sign a like for like replacement, which is always difficult when you lose brilliant players as there simply aren’t that many of them to go around. When we lost Toure, Silva and Aguero we didn't go looking for the same type of players maybe if it will be the same with Gundogan replacement.
Currently looks like Bernardo got no suitors... his valuation is even putting PSG offGundogan and Bernardo both likely gone. Kovacic cannot be the only midfielder we sign. Surely? Also not sure what we do on the RW considering Foden has transitioned centrally.
Yeah I keep reading that he's likely to go but as of yet I've not seen any links to any clubs? I reckon he stays.Currently looks like Bernardo got no suitors... his valuation is even putting PSG off
To be fair mate, last summer we lost Fernandinho, Sterling, Jesus & Zinchenko in one hit. \0/I agree that we evolved, rather than attempting to sign a like for like replacement, which is always difficult when you lose brilliant players as there simply aren’t that many of them to go around.
But with Toure, Kompany, Silva, Aguero and Fernandinho we lost one big player in successive years, rather than several in one summer. We therefore had more scope to tweak the team slightly against an otherwise stable backdrop, and find different ways to replace each of them.
At the moment we could be losing three, if not four big players this summer and so we may need to target like for like replacements, if that’s possible, in order to minimise the disruption. But I still think that we’ll have a lot of evolution. Rodri can definitely play further forward and Alvarez should get more game time next season as well.
Yeah I think People might have had it backwards. Bernardo was more likely to stay than GundoYeah I keep reading that he's likely to go but as of yet I've not seen any links to any clubs? I reckon he stays.
If Walker goes, we need to sign someone.
And winger one maybe more.
Fair point, although I still think that (potentially) losing Gundogan, Bernado, Walker and Laporte would present a bigger disruption than we experienced last year.To be fair mate, last summer we lost Fernandinho, Sterling, Jesus & Zinchenko in one hit. \0/
I dunno if this contributed to our early season struggles, but we did progress to achieve a treble by the end of it...

Last year did show the need to sign quality though, and I hope whoever we sign end up being more like Haaland than Phillips and Gomez.
