I disagree of it being legitimate because it addressed the two main points.
Scale and cost. We haven't been shy on either and anyone claiming otherwise, perhaps some can take it for granted when we spend £100m on a player, the overall costs involved signing someone like Haaland, even the indifference to paying £45m for a starting England midfielder.
City have never spent £70m/£80m on a group of players in one window because we haven't needed to - yet.
This summer we have gone £90m for Rice, £90m for Gvardiol, £30m Kovacic.
We aren't blinking because of competition, we have our ceiling for everyone.
