One of Stones or Ake will have to be sacrificed simply because of lack of availability. Two top players but tough calls got to be made.
Not really, if we buy a reliable centre back alongside Dias and Gvardiol, then Stones and Ake are both good enough to be good options, and if not playing twice a week or even every week then they will be fine. There are maybe 5 players we are quite likely to lose or let go. We won’t want much more turnover than that if we can help it.

The best defences are those that don't rotate and build a strong link. Chopping and changing to facilitate players who can't play every week is no good. We need quality defenders who don't get injured. They can be rested in meaningless games, but not rotated in anything else

Here is my take on the current situation.

Last summer we should have refreshed an ageing squad, we have got away with having a small squad for four years, which, with no injuries is fine, this is now catching up with the squad. We have never found a decent back up for Rodri and letting Alvarez go without a replacement was criminal by the management.

Add to that, all the injuries we have had this year has severely hampered the squad as we cannot rotate/rest the ageing players who are absolutely shattered.

For me, we need at least 3 signings in January just to give Haaland, Gundo, Silva a well earned rest, they are dead on there feet.

Dias should be made captain for the rest of the season as Walker is NOT a captain.

In the summer, breaks my heart to say this, but, KDB, WALKER, EDERSON, GUNDO, SILVA , SAVHINO, NUNEZ, MCATEE all need to be moved on, the first 5 have all past there best days unfortunately and the squad needs a rebuild.

The players that are fit are physically exhausted because of poor management decisions last summer and the reliance of Rodri and a small squad.

Agree with a lot of what you say but Savinho is a player, he just needs time. Also Bernardo can stay as long as he wants but agree with you on all the rest

Savinho, wow. How on earth can anyone come to that conclusion

We aren’t wasting the guts of 600k pw to have 2 lads job share.

That’s effectively what they are these days, as much as I love both.

We rotated a fair bit ofer the last few years. Besides we wouldn't need to if we didn’t want to.Ake and Stones would make great squad players. All I’m saying is we will try to keep the changes in the summer down to 4 or 5 maximum. Stones and Ake don’t need to be added to that. For what it’s worth I don’t think Grealish and Nunes will go either.
The players that are most likely to go are Walker, KDB, Gundogan, Ederson, possibly Bernardo possibly Ortega, then McAtee and Phillips. That's more than enough in one summer without adding to it unnecessarily.

To be fair it isn’t our choice if the players choose to stay.

Yeah but the big issue with that is we can’t replace in that position.

The Mendy farce is effectively why we still haven’t gotten a left back.

People are quick to forget those contracts for sure.

To be fair all of our defenders have been injured or unavailable at some point. Having a big squad with depth is what matters and with the quality of centre backs we have, we will always rotate

Because he is shit (i am not being serious but it is a view of many)

I am hoping for two things, next year in his second season under Pep he becomes better and also now that he has scored with his missus he might break his duck on the pitch for us
We are an utterly dysfunctional team at the moment. But even at our best you would have to be properly clueless to single out a 20-year old new signing. Who has even looked pretty good for the most part. Perplexing

Do find it funny that a lot of people would like us to go for someone who's a numbers winger, getting goals & assists.... and Savinho got 9G/10A for Girona last year at 20

Kids a talent, one who knows where the net is, our fans just need to have some faith in him

There is far too much not made instant impact need to go.

The contract expiries are going to be another and then really Walker and one of the GK’s.

Anything after that is then going to be tricky.

God knows who will take Phillips, Nunes ain’t our standard but there is a player there for someone.

So feel we could sell him (although can’t see transfer fee being great).
