In theory yes, but it’s not a long term injury apparently and that would be horrific treatment of what should be a key player.

This could only be done with Mendy's agreement, in every player's contract there's a clause to ensure they have a minimum playing time if not offered then they are entitled to become a free agent. If he was left out in August, due to injury, but was fit in time for January then a place would have to be made available then.

One difficulty we have is wasting a place with a foreign second choice keeper
