good lets focus on the players we have and bringing thorugh the youth

You're right,let's ignore reality...

Reality? Reality is we have the best squad in the league by some distance and if we can't win the league with what we have then i doubt throwing more cash around (unless a huge player becomes available) is really the answer.

If we can get De Rossi for the right price then great. But i wouldn't be disaopinted if we get rid of Tevez and some dead wood and go with what we have.

Ian Cheeseman said at a club meeting today that some people were invited to they confirmed there would be no big spending this window, although I think we've all figured that out by now!

A shame, and more pertinently,it will be an opportunity lost.
January is proving that our squad, when hit with a couple of ommisions is not as strong as initially thought,if these players go missing again before the season ends,we may well regret not reinforcing the obvious areas of weakness when given the chance.

True to a point, but if we bought in De Rossi and he couldn't play, we wouldn't be as strong as we could be. The more talent we bring in, the higher the theoretical 'best performance'. We'd get used to being great with De Rossi then worry ourselves witless when he's injured, "We need cover!".. We're not as strong without Kompany, Yaya or Silva, but they're 3 of our very best players. Drop the very 3 best from any team anywhere and they won't be as good. Ultimately even without them we should have more than enough in the squad to be competing for and hopefully winning the league. I'm not surprised people groan when Mancini mentions about needing more players, we can field a better first 11 + better bench than anyone in the league nearly every single game. We have a few players who need to up their game for the run in, but very little need to actually transfer anyone else in, IMO anyway.

Plus they're all back in a couple of weeks FFS !

We are just going through what other teams are going through injuries and suspensions it's part and partial of the game, I really can't fathom the the hysterical nonsense written on here, you can't just buy players and expect them to settle right in, they are human beings not machines, in a few weeks we will be back to full strength ready to push on even more

Good to see that I can have some input in the thread again. I'm not keen on mid-season signings as they just seem to throw teams out of kilter. Players have to get used to so many things, especially those from a different continent having to deal with the new culture, never mind a new team.

If we're looking for the new season then fair enough, but for now, just don't bank on it - it'll be a backwards step.

X2 :) as much as I'd like new players you can't just buy them for a few weeks and that's all we need them for at the moment in afraid.
