Ian Cheeseman said at a club meeting today that some people were invited to they confirmed there would be no big spending this window, although I think we've all figured that out by now!

A shame, and more pertinently,it will be an opportunity lost.
January is proving that our squad, when hit with a couple of ommisions is not as strong as initially thought,if these players go missing again before the season ends,we may well regret not reinforcing the obvious areas of weakness when given the chance.

True to a point, but if we bought in De Rossi and he couldn't play, we wouldn't be as strong as we could be. The more talent we bring in, the higher the theoretical 'best performance'. We'd get used to being great with De Rossi then worry ourselves witless when he's injured, "We need cover!".. We're not as strong without Kompany, Yaya or Silva, but they're 3 of our very best players. Drop the very 3 best from any team anywhere and they won't be as good. Ultimately even without them we should have more than enough in the squad to be competing for and hopefully winning the league. I'm not surprised people groan when Mancini mentions about needing more players, we can field a better first 11 + better bench than anyone in the league nearly every single game. We have a few players who need to up their game for the run in, but very little need to actually transfer anyone else in, IMO anyway.

Ha I think I agree - bad day to give up the weed...

We are just going through what other teams are going through injuries and suspensions it's part and partial of the game, I really can't fathom the the hysterical nonsense written on here, you can't just buy players and expect them to settle right in, they are human beings not machines, in a few weeks we will be back to full strength ready to push on even more

The owners and manager are trying to run a football club not playing computer games

So you think Mancini's talking out of his arse when he says he's short of players then?

If you're going to quote the manager, at least research what he's been saying recently.

It helps.

Mancini knows and he isnt satisfied, Nasri has been a passenger thus far. Dont know if in the summer it was either aguero or sanchez but we need a sanchez type player, we are slow and ponderous at times. No coincidence as the pitchea deteriorate in the winter we are less fluid, a lavezzi type player would be the answer and if we havent got the means to spend that much in light of FFP then shaqiri/hoillett are options. Time to get tough, force spuds to buy ade or recall him, tevez can rot if he only wants AC. Seize the moment as far as the title is concerned, i hope we dont regret inactivity. On another note the club is cracking on with signing top youth prospects, very impressed with this.

I can't think of a manager that would not want more and better players in their squad, I would like more money in my bank account it would enable me to do far more things, however I live within my means, and that is what this club will be doing despite the expert advice that is freely given on here, it does make me wonder why a few of you are not out there managing football clubs, you really seem to know your stuff, yes we will just buy player X (or Y or Z) and all our problems will be solved, deep in your heart of hearts you know it's not true, no one or even two players will solve any teams problems especially in January.

We have a squad that can and in my opinion will win the League, sure there are some key players missing, but that's no different to any other club.

I blame fantasy football and computer games

We're not playing catch up any more, and if we buy we have to sell - for footballing and financial reasons.

X2 :) as much as I'd like new players you can't just buy them for a few weeks and that's all we need them for at the moment in afraid.

Until the next time we get a suspension/injury or abscence.....

I fully understand the practicalities and realities of football management and finances, however,i honestly don't believe the squad is strong enough without the 'spine' players we are currently missing, our 'reserve' options havn't got the mental or physical presence to adequately replace.

If the majority of our first 11 stay fit etc. for the rest of the season then we'll be fine, otherwise i reckon we are gonna struggle to maintain our current position.

This has been the best transfer window ever. Cant believe we signed ..... erm....... NIR BITON
LOL! It has actually been a good one. We are not struggling for a player. Biton might just be our answer :)

This crap about Nasri does my head in: the guy basically creates as many chances per game as any player in the league thus far and has something like the third best pass completion stats. He may be a bit of a wimp and he can do better but he is nothing like a passenger.

Name a club in a different position than us, it's how it goes I am afraid, January is not the time for squad strengthening it very rarely works out, true if we had players that were going to be missing for the rest of the season, but even then there is no guarantee that the new player/s would make that much of an, impact have we learnt anything over the past few years (the fans that is) I actually trust the club and the managements judgement on this issue, if they don't think we need anyone fair enough, before anyone mentions big player name x (or Y and Z) if they are not available we can't kidnap them and make them play for us
