I think he can read just fine, it's you who can't count.....Can you not read? Not a few million, They were offering over £10m.
That's 20x what we put down for Sancho.

Are the rags in for Mbappe Tolm? That won't happen, too much money to be made from clubs on the continent for selling us their best players!!
I think Aguero is much more aligned with what Madrid's MO is, in terms of his present profile, established record and look.
City have a long way to go before we can sit back and wait for things to mature. Madrid could happily spend £80m this summer on Sergio and even if we spend that or more on Mbappe, he's effectively cost us peanuts.
He's 18, in five years time he's prime time and City's risk/reward ratio could be two or three more Premier League titles and a Champions League trophy.
That's worth the risk to us and the wait for Madrid, who know Sergio can score for next three or four years for them.
United can piss and whinge over what might have been if Ronaldo had stayed at Old Toilet.
The record books, however, show what they did win during Tranny's time - certainly not chopped liver .
Sergio is a legend in my eyes and I would be gutted to see him go, but we don't want to make the same mistake we did with Yaya, not getting money for him two years ago.
It would not surprise me if City and Madrid have an "understanding" on Sergio and Mbappe.
Not hugely, but I definitely do lay a bit of blame at Pep's door for it, and have said so numerous times in here.In an ideal world where upsetting the dressing room and balancing the books isnt a factor, maybe.
I'm don't think the blame can lie at Pep's door for that scenario.
You cant just make four players disappear, who would all be earning approx 100k a week,3 of which still had a 12 months contract and another with 24.Not hugely, but I definitely do lay a bit of blame at Pep's door for it, and have said so numerous times in here.
It was a horrific decision to not strengthen the fullbacks last summer, and it wouldn't have cost a fortune to sort.
Hahahah i def meant RomeroRamos is a multi talented player I heard, both good in defense and attack, and now backup keeping apparently. ;)
Jesus was £27 million plus add ons.
Sane was £43.8 million plus add ons.
Regardless, I get your point about pressure on the player and expectations that come with a world record fee (see: Paul Pogshit) The OP I was responding to wasn't arguing about that though, they suggested another year in Monaco for Mbappe, performing as he has this year, would justify the spend. I do believe it's quite likely that he will opt for another season there, and Monaco (who stand to lose a good proportion of their successful squad) would paint this as a victory, but ultimately his talent has been established and he has set his market value through his performances.
Is he worth a world record fee? Some clubs believe so. Perhaps City do too.
Sane was €37m rising to €46.5m.
I personally was very impressed by BillyShears' suggestion that this situation with contracts was carefully planned to get the team ready for total clearout. You cant just make four players disappear, who would all be earning approx 100k a week,3 of which still had a 12 months contract and another with 24.
Unfortunately,we allowed ourselves to end up in a position where the players hold the cards.
Kolasinic is rumored to be signing pre contract agreement with arsenal. Why arent we interested? Or are we?Nothing new
Who said anything about getting rid of all 4? Stop building the straw man, lol.You cant just make four players disappear, who would all be earning approx 100k a week,3 of which still had a 12 months contract and another with 24.

I guess. But I think we tried but it simply didn't work. Tried to move Zab but couldn't. Tried to get Perez and that also fell through.Who said anything about getting rid of all 4? Stop building the straw man, lol.
Even one top drawer left back, with Zab and Sagna covering right would have seen a huge improvement.
All about opinions mate, but I'm still in the "having shit fullbacks has cost us this season" camp.I guess. But I think we tried but it simply didn't work. Tried to move Zab but couldn't. Tried to get Perez and that also fell through.
Its better to get the type of players You want in whatever position you want than it is to get someone you don't want at a need position.
And while our fullbacks were not great, our 2 biggest issues this season was Bravo not working out and our profligacy in front of the opponents goal.
Would better fullbacks have helped? Absolutely. But probably not as much as an in form goalie or a more clinical attacking crew.
And a side issue to the above real issues, is the continued problem of carrying too many injury prone players.

Paid them off or sat them in the stands.

Of course I'd use the plural context, none of the 4 are/were good enough.Forgive me for thinking your use of the words 'them' and 'fullbacks' made me believe you were referring to more than one.
Irrespective, and despite what many choose to believe, our management arent stupid.......so i still believe the club found themselves in a situation/had a valid reason that prevented replacing any.
We did try bud but the players he wanted weren't available, pointless panic buying and then left with more players on contracts that we struggle to get rid of when a preferred player is available?Of course I'd use the plural context, none of the 4 are/were good enough.
All about opinions, but I believe Pep dropped a bollock in thinking they would be good enough, he concentrated on forward players - we even had bids for central defenders!
I know that mate, but for example we could have gone for people like Ben Davies or Van Aanholt or Bertrand last summer, none of whom would have cost any more than £15mil or so, all of whom would have made adequate back ups to whoever we went for this summer. We did try bud but the players he wanted weren't available, pointless panic buying and then left with more players on contracts that we struggle to get rid of when a preferred player is available?
I agree it's been painful at times this season but our patience will be justified in the summer

Ffs..none of the 3 are good enough for us, and where we want to go. The time of buying back-ups has to be over if we want to be a top club. We have to only buy genuine first team competition that has to fight for their spot and the loser gets dropped and sold, simple as now.
Well we prioritised incorrectly.I don't think Pep did think they were good enough, more the fact was we had specific players in mind in other areas of the pitch that if we didn't sign they would be gone, probably for good, so we had to get them done. I can't remember a fullback we are linked with now being ready or strongly linked last summer, which shows the type of player we were after in those positions wasn't really available or affordable, so we prioritised.
