Tevez perhaps. We mainly seem to sign very expensive players, not star players at the top of their game. I am waiting for us to be like Real Madrid and be able to sign mainly galacticos.

Why do we want to sign them at the top of their game?

I'd much rather buy a 19 year old like Jesus weeks before he explodes onto the world stage than someone for 5x the price at 24.

Was Kompany at the top of his game when he signed? Zabaleta? Silva? Aguero?

The answer is obviously no, so why on earth would it be seen as a flaw to sign players before they've reached their best?

If you think Silva at 24, Aguero at 22, Sterling at 19, Sané at 20 or Jesus at 19 were all at the top of their game then you don't watch the same sport as me.
