I'm saying we have signed players with potential I.e sterling, de bruyne, Jesus and some with 1 or 2 good seasons I.e ottamendi but have wasted shed loads on the players like mangala, bonny , and others we now need to try for the elite players to improve a notch further.

If youre talking about the truly elite players like Messi and Ronaldo it is bloody difficult to buy them and there ain't many of them. If you are talking about players who are pretty much up there playing for elite clubs / considered world class, this would include players like Bravo, Di Maria and Falcao all of whom have come to the premier league and have failed.
Ozil, (Pogba) and Fabregas have been decent but no better than a lot of our signings.
I have no objections to signing elite players but it is still no guarantee.

It won't affect us at all until 2019 and even then it will only affect signing players aged 16/17 from EU countries. Anyone earning for instance, £4m a year and handing over half of that to HMRC will have their work permit flown over by courier along with a bottle of champagne and a welcome to the UK card signed by the PM before the ink has dried on their contract.

Signing players on their way to the top is all well and good but some flexibility is needed to ensure that you don't miss out on WC players at the very top of their game when the opportunity presents itself. A good mix of youth and energy plus maturity and experience is essential for balance provided everyone that gets the nod (young or a bit older ) is of the required quality

Major implications for British clubs Over 100 players would not be eligible to play currently Kante and Payet would have been some of the bigger names.It would also be more difficult to have British players playing with foreign teams. It would also be less easy to have players on loan with European clubs

I'm positive the Government will either relax the procedures to maintain the tax income from Premier League players or just be plain hypocritical and let them in. Makes zero sense to waive the high tax contribution from a small amount of people on the basis of not meeting a criteria that was fine before.

When was the last time we signed a star player at the top of his game?

Why do we want to sign them at the top of their game?

I'd much rather buy a 19 year old like Jesus weeks before he explodes onto the world stage than someone for 5x the price at 24.

Was Kompany at the top of his game when he signed? Zabaleta? Silva? Aguero?

The answer is obviously no, so why on earth would it be seen as a flaw to sign players before they've reached their best?

I honestly think that having been wowed by the signings of Nigel Clough, George Weah and Robbie Fowler over the years City fans were BOOTW when the signings of Robinho, Tevez and Aguero were announced.

and their subsequent impact upon the football we played.

I don't think we'll ever get that level of elation again, not to say we won't be better but, that initial buzz might never be bettered as we can dare I say expect it now as an established top 4 side.
