It's Quiet - a new dawn

I haven't watched a ton of him, would he be an upgrade on Gundogan in the pivot role assuming Ilkay is fit? They have similar bodytypes; it would seem to be somewhat duplicitive, especially because we have Danilo to cover right back.

He's not better than Gundogan, but by the end of the season he might be better than 35 year old Yaya and 33 year old Fernandinho, and if those two do go downhill then we're relying on Gundo's fitness.

Plus the fullback cover would be nice. We do have Danilo, but 3 Fullbacks is the bare minimum really.

Is it not for the convenience of having the opportunity of something resembling a B team as La Liga regulars?
Pretty much. Having your academy lads play against the likes of Barca, Madrid, Atletico, Sevilla, Villareal, Bilbao...it's too good. Imagine Maffeo competing against some of the absolute best in the game. If he really makes it there, he's dead set to start for City. This was a very clever business move.

Still don't get why we are spending quite so much on fitting out Girona.

City own a large part of Girona.

Having a club in La Liga is invaluable. Keeping them up will be a major priority. Players like Garcia, Maffeo, etc will finally test themselves against the best in the world. Brilliant move by City to cooperate with Girona.

Can just see the Sheik singing this; My Girona;

The last time he got a red card, the seemingly frequent occurrence of which got him his 'psycho' rep, was 6 years ago. Think you ought to have watched a bit of la liga in the mean time :/

Irrespective, Pepe is not a center back to play passing football and contribute to build ups. Never has been. That's enough of a reason I reckon he wasn't targeted.

I don't know what you mean by "ought to have", it's not homework!

I appreciate you may have watched him more closely recently but my opinion is based on having seen footage of him behave in ways I've never seen any other footballer behave, every time I've watched him. Diego Costa is rarely sent off: I still consider him a liability.

The build up play point confirms it then.
