£40 m more for VVD? Lol! They don't want to sell.Instead of spunking £20m on Evans we could spend £40m more and get VVD who's at the right age and would be a serious successor to Vinny
Well it looks like either Southampton aren't selling or VVD doesn't want to come to City.Instead of spunking £20m on Evans we could spend £40m more and get VVD who's at the right age and would be a serious successor to Vinny
If it's both then we would also need the 2 non homegrown spots for them. Maybe that's the reason for a homegrown 4th centre back.Well it looks like either Southampton aren't selling or VVD doesn't want to come to City.
It is looking like perhaps we have exhausted all our options for CB and so have turned to an experienced option. If we have been given the nod for Sanchez or Mbappe then we need to allocate the money for them.
probably not on huge wages ha ha wait till we try to get shut of him then we find out his wagesPragmatic about this. 4th choice centre back, knows the league, probably not huge wages. Not too bothered. I'd rather we brought a solid player in rather than a Savic type, who though now a good player, was a bag of nerves and made mistakes.

If we spent £60m on VVD he would expect to be a regular starter, we would expect him to be a regular starter. At the moment Vinny's stature within the club and leadership qualities mean that if he's fit he plays. Which would mean much less game time for Stones (unless we play 3 at the back every week). I still think Pep has very high hopes for Stones, expects this season to be the year when he really makes it big. I think Pep would rather work with Stones this season rather than bring in a big money signing.
The proviso of course is that Kompany stays fit. The fact that we've left it so late to buy a 4th centre back and are now going for the cheaper option suggests to me that the club feel that Kompany has done enough in pre season to allay fears over his fitness.
