It's Quiet - a new dawn

You're surely not the only one, but what Alli has to do with midfield? He's basically a second striker and doesn't fit 3-forward formations with wide wingers, just like Griezmann or the likes.
We already have a genuine No10 in KdB who seems to be effectively integrated only when played on a wing, coupled with an attacking RB. Do you need another player with the same problems? I can't get the fascination with Alli, there's no place for him in our setup unless Pep is going to use some extreme formations like this (which I honestly don't believe, and that would be curtains for Sterling):

What we desperately need is press-resistant No8 and No6. If it's impossible to get stars like B.Silva, Isco, Weigl or Verratti, we can take a punt on 2nd tier players like Carvalho, Diawara or Barkley. Recent rumours about our interest in them make real sense to me.
Alli? I don't get it unless Pep is planning to retrain him for some different position (8 or 6) or change tactical approach significantly.

We've played that formation (when Gundogan was fit) multiple times this season, eg. Everton at home.

Bar the scoreline that the most dominant I have ever seen City play.

I think Pep definitely want the option next season of going 3-4-3.

The talk of us wanting to sign English players doesn't fill me with confidence. Stones and Sterling were far more expensive than they needed to be and obviously the more you spend the less you have left so the 'not my money' argument is as dumb as it gets.
We have all these supposed top scout and yet we hardly ever sign these English players when they're at a manageable fee. What's the point of scouts if they can't judge that the likes of Alli, Rose, Stones et al. are going to be good players before they're costing stupid money? My dog could inform the club that Rose is a good player now...
It's not just English players either, look at Dahoud who has now gone to BVB for a paltry figure. Why is he not at City? We're linked with similar players, even Wilshere, for far extortionate fees in comparison.
This club's transfers department is an embarrassment. Full faith in Pep but ZERO in the hierarchy. We're still depending on Yaya to do something in an FA Cup SF ffs!

Watch the 2nd leg of the youth cup final tonight and then tell me we arent capable of finding young talent. If some of those dont make a first team impact then i'll agree, questions do need answering.

Not talking about 9-16 yr olds, who may or may not make it as a pro in 5-10 years, I'm talking about real transfers, players to make an impact now or within a couple of years.

My point is that we are signing the talent, our scouts are doing their jobs.

The trouble with the players you describe is they rightly want first team football, and thats not always something we could guarantee given their lack of experience. They would sooner go to a club where they are afforded game time and they can prove themselves capable in a less pressured environment, usually a mid table type team........ unfortunately that means even though we pick up a far more polished product further down the line,we have generally paid over the odds for that privilege.

Trouble is it's just not an exact science and everyone is looking for the next Alle or Kane. The same people have bought Sissoko (£30m). As for Danny Rose; he signed for Spurs in 2007 aged 17 and went on loan to Watford (7 appearances), Peterborough (6 appearances), Bristol City (17 appearances) and Sunderland (29 appearances). In ten years at Spurs he's played 108 games for them and less than 150 in total. I actually remember him being linked to City in April 2015 for about £12m and this place was in meltdown! The preferred options then seemed to be Angelino, Rekik or Mangala. Apparently, this forum knows more than the muppets in charge..........

Im not sure our midfield is as desperate as some are making out. We've got Silva / KDB / Dinho / Gundogan and I hope from next season more regularly Aleix Garcia. I also have a hunch that Delph will get at least another year here. That is 6 players who prefer playing centrally and give a decent blend of attacking / sitting & holding.

Unless something drastically better comes up - I cant see us doing much business in the central midfield area.

Fullbacks (x2 minimum for straight into first team), a keeper (Replace Willy - End of Contract and dont think Pep will give up on Bravo) and a new Winger for me (Replace Navas). Maybe a new Centre Back depending on Kompany's fitness issues over the last 18 months and any long term prognosis.
