It's Quiet - a new dawn

not sure it's "easy" to defend against dribblers of sane and sterling quality. they cut inside sometimes anyway but are on their weak foots. flexibility doesn't hurt

It is when there's no width to the play, and they're trying to dribble through congested areas against lots of players which is exactly why Pep has them playing so wide and tries to create 1v1's for them.

pep could try letting sane and sterling swap wings and cutting inside first. they're hardly a goal threat down the byline

I like the idea of that and I think they could do it fairly easily. The issue is when the middle of the pitch is congested. We need a plan B for when teams stick 10 behind the ball. My father in law called a 0-0 last night after half hour as soon as it was clear how united were going to play. We're too predictable...

agreed. doesn't help though when sane and sterling don't get into the game?

Agree they both needed to do more, But i have sympathy in that they were doubled up on at every opportunity and were literally running into brick walls. Didnt even see many overlaps attempted last night to try and support them.

I think this may happen next season when we have new high energy fullbacks who can provide the width if Sand Sterling cut inside.

As Pep said last night our current fullbacks are too old to be continually bombing up and down the wings.

I know this is transfer thread but people need to view sane and sterling performance on the fact both Rag full back who like to bomb forward stayed way back beyond the half way line last night.

A goalscoring midfielder needs to be on the list. Isco would have been nice but seems he's not coming, someone, anyone else who deputise when Silva or KDB are injured, score 10-15 goals from midfield and burst into the box.

Without that threat coming through the middle all you have to do is crowd out the wingers and we're toothless.
We have him....but he's currently injured
