It's Quiet - a new dawn

We can’t keep buying 18/19 year olds for millions based on potential.

This is why I want Sanchez. I know he is old at 28 but 3 years we would get out of him at a top top level. Goals and assists.

I see what you're saying, but at the same time it'll be best if we snatch them up whilst they're young and cheap rather than dish out 60 mil in 3 years time when they're at their peak.

Surely it is wise to have our player portfolio just in case there is a star amongst them.

Most of them will be sold for more money than we bought them for and probably loaned out as well so its probably financially viable .
I think we will be very lucky if we manage to get a homegrown star but who knows, if ADUG have the money they might as well fill the Academy and sort them out there as part of their overall Business Plan.

So any transfer news? Or just handbags?

Nothing much, Sky had a big story out today where they said we want Walker, Bertrand, Mendy, Tielemans, Sanchez and Van Dijk, and Marca in Spain say Jose is going to replace DDG with Hart (lol).

you unhappy with Gabriel Jesus? Because under your plan we wouldn't buy him for 5 years and by that time he'd be at Real Madrid or Barcelona for 3 years and be signing for the rags every time they dropped points.
Fixed.

If we're going to get 2 right backs, Dani Alves could actually be a brilliant move.

He's not the player he once was, but outside of Messi, no one else was more important to Pep's Barca than Alves, and a lot of their problems these days have come from not replacing him.

if we got a young player like Bellerin or Maffeo - or a left back, learning from Alves would be the best thing that could possibly happen to them if they want to do well for Pep.

Having said that though, it comes from Duncan Castles who has linked us with about 6 right backs in one article. The most scatter gun approach possible.

He's two years older than Maicon was when he signed for us........

Interested in Youri Tielemans, if so, good. Class midfield player & only 19.

Good range of vision, awareness and passing. Not sure about his defensive play.

Wonder how much he would cost to buy?

Aleix Garcia I had high hopes for but this is fading as he is just not getting game time. Surely Pep knows whether he is of the standard he is looking for based on training & the limited match time has had.

So? He's one of the best fullbacks of the last 15 years and is the prototypical Guardiola fullback. No one else has ever been as good at the positioning, joining midfield but also going wide when the wingers come in than Alves was.

We bought Maicon a year after Bale ruined him and everyone knew his legs had gone, Alves was one of Barcelona's most important players last season, he's lining up in a CL semi next week and his legs definitely haven't gone. Players age at a different rate and all of the things that set Alves above the rest were technical or mental, not physical.

No one is saying get him and play him 3x a week all season, I've said get him in and let him mentor a kid like Bellerin or Maffeo or whoever we get, and let them learn off the right back who I bet Guardiola would call one of the best to ever play the position.
