He was bought at 23 for a world record transfer...are you saying you want all of our transfers to be £70, £80m and above?
Or would it make 100x more sense to have bought him at 21 for 1/10th of the cost when it was already painstakingly clear he was going to go on to be world class, and he was already perfroming well enough to be in the TOTY?
We're not far off that though, we are essentially buying Bale level players at 19-20 for less cash. But there's more risk. Too early to say player x(say Moreno for arguements sake) will end up as good as player y(Sane). it's a risky strategy and there is a lot to be said for just letting them show it for a year or two more then shelling out.
