It's Quiet - a new dawn

So if Pep signs him it'll be for the sake of it and in the full knowledge he isn't good enough to actually play for us?

Also you realise identical arguments were made to not sign Raz and Stones too.

Raz and Stones are much better than Barkley. He doesn't have the mentality or consistency to play at the very top level.

Haha. I'll bet you whatever you want the biggest complaints about Raz and Stones before they signed were "mentality and consistency" not being good enough.

I would personally rather persevere with Phil Foden and Matt Smith from the academy than buy a player we do not need.

Genuine question for you.

Do we "need" Ross Barkley, or do we need a player in that position?

I would say we needed Sterling and even though I didn't like the signing, we needed a player like Stones. Being English was a bonus for both and why we needed them over foreign counterparts.

But with Barkley, i don't see the x factor that both Stones and Sterling possessed, even in spite of flaws in their games at the time of their respective transfers.

With Ross I just see a lot of graft. Surely we can get a far superior player for less cash. If you were given the option of Isco or Barkley and it was a simple case of one or the other, who do you choose?

So you'll have him on the bench, because Fernandinho won't be first choice next year. He's been absolute gash all season, how some still think he has it is beyond me.

right now with the team we have i would. next year if gundogan is fit, he'd be good next to him or as cover for silva/de bruyne

Please tell me you were smashed off your tits when you posted this bollocks. Fernandinho has been brilliant all season being asked to play in positions he's never played before. He's our best holding midfielder, best right back and our best left back and probably wouldn't do any worse than Kolarov or Otamendi at centre half either.

When has he been brilliant? When he was getting suspended for half the season?

We look far, far superior when he has not being in our midfield set up. I've never seen a player live off a former reputation more than he has. Yaya came in for him and took over and we instantly looked far more solid. Stones looked better. Otamendi even looked better. Suddenly Sane and Sterling had free reign thanks to far faster movement of the ball. All of this stemmed from taking Fernandinho out of the line up. That's not coincidence. Right back is the only slot I have for him right now, and when we buy a RB, and hopefully buy in Fabinho he slips even further down the pecking order.

Feel free to prove me wrong, but results and the general look of the team since he was moved out of the middle say I'm right.

The experiment at LB was a disaster. You don't need to embellish to make the point that Dinho has been a key player for us this season.
