It's Quiet - a new dawn

He can get away with it for a year and see how the young lads develop. Sanchez replaces Navas in the squad for me. The veteran/kid replaces Kelechi who I suspect will go on loan. Kun and Jesus remain the two main strikers.

exactly what should happen....the question is will kun accept the squad role???......i bloody hope he does as we will have real strength in depth.

No, we lined up 3241, we've never lined up 352.

Pep also explicitly said when we played 3241 that we were not playing Sterling and Sané as wingbacks when a reporter asked why he played them there.

Fine Pep didn't think they were wingbacks. That said they lined up on the wings and played pretty high up the pitch behind wingers/inside forwards and they didn't have fullbacks behind them so that is pretty much the definition of a wingback.

And a 3241 is the same as a 343 (Three CBs. Two CMs. Two widemen. Three attackers) which is what I said we played. Once we are past your semantics, my overall point is still the same. He was able to fit them all into the team and he has shown he is willing to play a very attacking side.

He didn't manage to fit them all into the team though, we played 3 forwards. Sané, Sterling, Aguero. If we'd had Jesus available he wouldn't have played, neither did Nolito or Navas or any other wing options so it quite clearly isn't a solution to the problem.

I very much doubt he could accept going from main man to squad role

It's more like will he accept the possibility. Even if someone like Sanchez came in, Aguero would surely back himself to get in the XI, and we wouldn't know if he would be benched or not until after the window had closed.

Then if he didn't play enough and was unhappy, summer 2018 would be the earliest he could leave anyway.

true

Wingbacks. If we play like we are playing now 5 tops for the front 3 with one being either old (Nolito) or hopefully emerging (Roberts).

That said everyone is assuming we are going to play 4-3-3 again next season. Pep clearly wanted to go three at the back this season and was thwarted by inadequate players.

If that is what he is thinking we can afford 6 attackers with Sane and Sterling able to play wingback when we play a 3.
Fuck me. That would be some attacking force.

Imagined Bluemoon taking control over transfer policy and Pep immediately commiting suicide.

It would be a revolving door. One bad game and you'd be out. One good game against us and you'd be in!

The scouting department will just be a bunch of sleep deprived blokes packed into a computer lab watching youtube videos for hours on end

That is because he was playing Silva and KDB up top. He easily could have played Nolito and Navas instead if he wanted to but why would he?

We can do this all day long. He easily could have put Jesus out left if he was here. He had 5 attacking players in the lineup (Nacho, KDB, Silva, Sterling, and Sane). This was before Gundogan went down and before Silva started dropping deeper to cover that loss.
