It's Quiet the £250m return

Ut by the same token how long would their managers be in place? Pep must be the longest serving PL manager in recent history, Madrid change their managers with the dishwater, same with Barca, I’d be looking who’s in the squad and the longevity of it, Haaland has signed a 10 year deal, we have Rodri who’s more than likely going to extend plus the youngsters we have. Looking at how our club is run it’s probably the most stable top tier club at the moment that to me woukd be a bigger selling point, unless of course it’s all about the cash.
Given our wage bill, I’d hardly say the cash would be the problem.

Pep has made it clear he’s a short timer and the club has made it clear 25/26 is going to be a rather big rebuild season. Neither of those things looks too attractive to someone expecting a massive 5-6 year deal and the promise of silverware.

See it any way you choose, but Pep is the big draw at City atm.

As Pep himself said, he’s closer to the end than the beginning! If you don’t believe he’s going in 2 yrs, there’s nothing I can say other than I take him at his word.

If I was a top, top European player, the main draw at City would be Pep. If I was 22-25, and expecting a 5-6 year deal, I’d be looking at how long I was going to be part of a rebuild and how long I was going to be part of a Pep-less City.

I would weigh my options, based on that calculus, very, very carefully, especially if other top clubs were seriously looking at me.

Respectfully gonna have to take issue with this. The headline draw of joining City may be Pep but it’s not the only headline draw. City are the most successful club in the PL in the last decade. They have the best facilities. One of the best stadiums. They have an ownership obsessed with winning. We guarantee CL football in a way no other PL club can. Any footballer only coming for Pep would be unlikely to get signed.

Look at it another way. We’ve been dealing with 12 month rolling contracts from Pep for five years now. Hasn’t stopped us signing players. No one else comes close to Guardiola as a coach but also in England no club is vastly above City in terms of its pull with or without Pep.

I recon Savio could go out on loan, preferably to a premier league club. Could be a diamond but doesn’t seem ready for our level at the moment imo
It’s just not something we usually but Viana could change the model.

When loaning a player out would still need a spot for them in a year or two, that still wouldn’t be the case as all young players.

We loan the young guys out with options so if the do well we get money, or these days just sell them for good money with incentives.

Only time really loan a player with the idea of getting them back is when they’ve flopped.

Savio certainly hasn’t. He started well and slowed up when things got bad, but who didn’t. We’d be mad to not give him another year.

I can only assume you think Pep is the be all and end all of football coaching. I believe others might have a slightly different view, especially given the football they saw coming from us this past season.

If I was a gung ho attacking midfielder, who had my choice of clubs, I might not feel like Manchester and City and Pep were the things that both best suited me and best suited my desire to play a certain brand of football.

There is a reason we are not always #1 on every players list of teams they want to play for!
Not at all. If you read properly I am saying that it is insinuated that the possibility of Pep leaving would turn them off. If Pep was to stay they would come. Hence Pep is the attraction. However, he is obviously not at any other club so why are they more attractive.
Not well worded, maybe someone could articulate better.

That’s nonsense and, given the job life expectancy of a manager, would be incredibly short sighted for any player.
Football being the crazy place it is, there are absolutely NO guarantees ever given, as there can’t be.
Madrid sacked Ancelotti after 4 years in which he won the title twice, the CL twice, the CWC twice, the European Super Cup twice, the Spanish Cup once and the FIFA intercontinental cup.
As well as Ancelotti Klopp has gone, Alonso has gone, Xavi has gone and plenty more besides and they are all managers who players might have been influenced to sign for who are not at their clubs anymore.

Like you say it sounds like Viana has a different approach. I think if a great player comes available I think he’ll be ruthless. I’m not convinced at all about Savio. Just my opinion and I know plenty of others are. I think Rodrygo is far better and more experienced.

So are our targets -

Livramento RB
Ait Nouri LB
MGW Mid
Reindeer Mid
Cherki AM
GK if Ederson or Ortega leaves

Personally I hope Ederson stays but that would be an excellent window

That would be our best window since 2017, probably need to lose two of Gundo, Bernardo and Kovacic to make it happen though

I`d be shocked if we turned down the chance to sign Rodrygo for £80m.
Is he better than Doku 2025/26? I am not sure he would be. Doku might flourish in a City side with a functional midfield and a side that can take more risk.

I haven't made my mind up on Doku or Savinho. They blow hot and old. Most likely Rodrygo does too. Remember he is playing for a side that utterly dominates most of its opponents and that flatters their players.

I would say Rodrygo is better Marv, can also play as a 10 as well.

If playing for Pep was so important to a player their choice is sign now for 2 guaranteed years or most likely never play for him as after hell tke a break or retire. Not as if we won’t get a very good replacement.
Same as when Haaland signed it was only 2 years on his contract

I think the hate on doku and savinho is slightly unjustified in the sense that while their shooting is erratic, alot of the time they beat a man and there is nobody in the box for them to find, haaland is ambling about ten yards behind them or not moving to find space, if there were midfielders in the box for them to find theyd look far better, like when doku found marmoush on sunday against fulham.

I think Khaldoon is furious with the season, From his comments I believe a lot more players will be on the chopping block this summer, Than we think.

He has his standards and we didn’t hit those standards this season.

He has been considerably better than average, proced vital to saving our season and is improving substantially every game.

He's the second fastest player in the league, he's tall and physical, he has the technical proficiency given hes naturally a midfielder, he has a criminally underrated cross. Shows willingness to run beyond the line off the ball.

What attributes does he lack? Take away the name and his history and look at the player without bias and he's a near perfect fit for what Pep wants in a fullback.
Attributes?
He can’t pass. Has almost zero awareness and absolutely cannot defend.
I do agree that he is athletic and has a decent cross.
As I said though, would he be good enough for our rivals? I don’t think so..
