It's Quiet the £250m return

I’d keep Ake , best 1v1 defender we’ve got. I’d love to keep stones but he can’t keep fit so out of those it would be Grealish and Stones.

But we are going to struggle to find anyone that would take Stones, unless Everton fancy it.

West ham, Newcastle, Everton, would all at least have an interest imo mate

I still think a peak Guardiola can lead the current team to the league title. But I emphasize on "peak" here. He made Delph into a title winning LB and made Danilo and Cancelo play inverted fullbacks and buried the league time and again.
I don't know if I am being ignorant about world football but he was also the first one to use CBs in all FB positions.
He can win this title.

The current version Pep whose idea of a top midfield is some variation of BSilva Gundo and top defence is Akanji Dias is susceptible to failures.

I still believe if we are able to sort out 3 players from our defence and our 3 player midfield - Nunes can help us win title from RB position. But then sorting means these totally fix 6 players who play every fucking match except some cup games. This new version of City under Pep with weekly new defence and midfield is killing us!

I've no idea what you mean by move players around the squad.

Rico lewis currently doesnt take up a spot in the premier league and can still be registered on the B list for the CL, meaning hes a completely free player in the squad. In 2 seasons he'll be club trained but seeing as we havent filled that quota either, he'll still essentially be an entirely free extra player for the squad. There's no replacing him, sell him and you dont get to bring in anybody else. Its him or nothing.

There's nobody in the academy better than him. If there was they'd be in the squad too and they'd also be a completely free addition to the squad just like lewis.
So if we sold Rico we couldnt bring in another English player from another team?

If we sold Gundo for instance and brought in an academy player into midfield could we then sign a foreign player at fullback?

I think you're talking from your arse, and the arse don't see.
You will think the same of me, no doubt.
Hopefully, I am right because it will mean we will have another top player.
He aint proven anywhere near a top player at the moment I just dont need to put it like you have.
And some of it is fact..Nunes replaced him at fullback - that is just a fact
And the point about him being our worst midfield option is just an opinion BUT tell me one of our midfielders who is worse in there than him?

That isn’t the new version of Pep though, last year the midfield was what it was without Rodri, with Foden MIA, KDB unreliable the midfield next season probably going to be Rodri, Reijnders and my guess one from Bernardo or Cherki, maybe Foden, then Gonzales and O’Reilly as back up. Still think Gundogan and Kovacic are the most likely to move on.
As for defence right back the only real doubt then Dias , Gvardiol ,Ait Nouri.

No, we need to sell or move 5 non homegrown players to bring in a foreign fullback, Gundogan would just be one of those.

I reckon a fair number of these players are going to be loaned or sold.

Think if offers came in we will accept on these players
Ederson or ortega
Kabore
Ake or stones
Akanji
Gundogan
Kovacic
Mactee
Phillips
Grealish
Nunes only if another RB comes in
Lots on big wages there be hard to shift I would like O'Reilly to go back in midfield to be reijnders understudy with Callum Doyle coming in as the second choice lb

Not sure if that works out for the rules

No. Rico is under 21 and has been in our academy for over 2 years, Therefore he doesnt need to be registered in either the premier league or CL squads for this upcoming season. In 2 years time he'll need to be registered and then he qualifies as one of four permitted club trained players. Foden is currently the only 1 in that category, o'reilly and bobb soon to follow if they stay mcatre too but I suspect hes going. All that means selling him, frees up absolutely nothing in the squad allowance since hes not taking up any space so we cannot replace him with anybody that takes up space.

Given that we are currently a few over the squad allowance for CL, if we sold gundo alone we wont have any room to replace him with anybody and even in the scenario where we sold enough players to free up a space for a foreign right back to be signed, selling lewis makes zero contribution to that.

There is no scenario where selling Lewis frees up any space within the squad the only benefit would be the transfer fee and we dont need that, certainly not ahead of thr luxury of a bigger squad.

If he's as bad as Simon thinks he is, we won't get anything for him anyway :-)

My entire post was specifically not about his ability, I literally said at the very beginning opinions on his ability are irrelevant. He's a club trained player, we cannot replace him with anybody that hasnt come from our academy.
Genuine question and harm meant do you actually know this, just asking bud

The squad in the last 2-3 years has been managed pretty poorly hasn’t since the treble season? Mainly down to Pep I would imagine as he will have told Txiki he was happy and leave things as they are.

Some serious discussions need to take place. We need to move a few on, and none appear keen to leave. There is no space for sentiment here.

I prefer succinct than endless thread negativity.
We have a different opinion, clearly.
I think he has guile, vision, positional awareness, ability on the half-turn, passing ability and excellent close control. I think he can improve his physicality.
I haven't seen enough of Reijnders or Gonzalez to know how Rico compares with them and I would be surprised if you have.
It is right that Nunes continues to play. It was right that Rico continued to play instead of Kyle in the 2023-2024 season.
If we do not allow academy players to develop through game-time, we will be endlessly recruiting from elsewhere, and then complaining, as many do, about academy players who go on to be successful at other clubs.
