See you still have it roundabout, the older players and it’s only 3 of them , are sticking with us not us sticking with them, sickened ,really? Over reaction.
What you're not getting is the old guard will all be gone within two seasons. We can't hold onto all the younger players & bed them in whilst the old guard play out their contracts. Squad quotas won't allow it.
We'll either have to loan out, or sell our younger players to accommodate the older ones that Pep wants to keep. If we loan out the younger squad players, how long will it then take for them to acclimatise & to bed in when/
IF they return?
At some point the older injury-prone squad members have to be moved on, & that process should've started two years ago. This is poor squad planning, & based on what Guardiola & more tellingly Khaldoon said, the delay in rebuilding our squad was Pep's decision.
Last season & this summer we're suffering the ramifications. If that doesn't bother you, that's your business. Personally, I'm sickened & gutted, because it was so unnecessary.
It also leads me to believe that Guardiola was seriously thinking of leaving this summer, hence him probably wanting to wring a final season out of his treble winners, & leave our much needed rebuild to his successor.
The question then is, what's the role of the DoF? I thought they were supposed to keep the continuity of the squad intact, regardless of which manager was at the helm?
The fact that both Txiki & Guardiola were due to leave at the same time also suggests that Txiki may have wanted to leave the rebuild to his successor too. This wasn't in Manchester City's best interests.
It was the perfect storm, & last season we paid the price, & will continue to do so if Pep keeps the tactics & formation of last season which failed us, & retains the majority of the older players who clearly aren't fit enough to last a gruelling season, especially when you consider Pep's small squad philosophy.
