It's Quiet the £250m return

Adeyemi, Doku, Saka, Gittens, Minteh, Olise off the top of my head, there’s 11 with no effort.

And this is just pure wingers rather than the likes of other players that play out wide, like Cherki and Musiala.

Rodrygo, Kvaratskhelia perhaps a little too old for the argument.

How many wingers, without the god like dribbling and positioning that you claim, got more than his one premier goal last season?
But how statistically anomalous a 2% conversion rate is...

He scored 9 goals in one la liga season.

There's a video on this thread about how well he shot that year.

Of that list they're either like 23 or obviously not as good (ironically not Cherki - good shout) so im pretty comfortable saying he's top 5.

Fwiw Kvara would have been my dream singing the last 3 years. Now he's someone who is a true upgrade.

See you still have it roundabout, the older players and it’s only 3 of them , are sticking with us not us sticking with them, sickened ,really? Over reaction.
What you're not getting is the old guard will all be gone within two seasons. We can't hold onto all the younger players & bed them in whilst the old guard play out their contracts. Squad quotas won't allow it.

We'll either have to loan out, or sell our younger players to accommodate the older ones that Pep wants to keep. If we loan out the younger squad players, how long will it then take for them to acclimatise & to bed in when/IF they return?

At some point the older injury-prone squad members have to be moved on, & that process should've started two years ago. This is poor squad planning, & based on what Guardiola & more tellingly Khaldoon said, the delay in rebuilding our squad was Pep's decision.

Last season & this summer we're suffering the ramifications. If that doesn't bother you, that's your business. Personally, I'm sickened & gutted, because it was so unnecessary.

It also leads me to believe that Guardiola was seriously thinking of leaving this summer, hence him probably wanting to wring a final season out of his treble winners, & leave our much needed rebuild to his successor.

The question then is, what's the role of the DoF? I thought they were supposed to keep the continuity of the squad intact, regardless of which manager was at the helm?

The fact that both Txiki & Guardiola were due to leave at the same time also suggests that Txiki may have wanted to leave the rebuild to his successor too. This wasn't in Manchester City's best interests.

It was the perfect storm, & last season we paid the price, & will continue to do so if Pep keeps the tactics & formation of last season which failed us, & retains the majority of the older players who clearly aren't fit enough to last a gruelling season, especially when you consider Pep's small squad philosophy.

Edit: for my money, he isn’t as good as Oscar Bobb.
Adeyemi is Crazy. That guy can only run and is missing a bunch of goals every year . Gittens is also a funny name. That guy had a run of like 5 games and then joined the bench because he got found out and was horrible afterwards. Most people in Dortmund don’t think he was anything special and are very happy for the amount they got from Chelsea.
you won’t find 10 wide players better than him let alone 20.

The last sentence said it all anyways. Bobb the world beater with his 500 minutes of pro football.

So how do u get rid of Gundo , Stones , Akanji, Kovacic, Ake if they are happy to see off the last 12 months of their contract and one being out till Oct ? You cant , its just the way it is

1 year? The last 3 have 2 years left my guy. We are stuck with them until 2027.

It makes total sense to me.

Viana came in and seems to build a team of winners to compete for big titles. I really hope he has screened the squad for players who are not the right fit: Grealish left, McAtee didn't breakthrough, Eddie and Ortega ageing, Savinho is talented but has a thin skin and doesn't perform as expected. In my view those are tough but very good managerial decisions.

If we in return get a CT 2nd keeper (we all wanted for years and years!), a top shot stopper and strong personality, why not?

What if we replace Rico - who can't really find a position in our squad - by Livramento now that Jack has opened his spot?

I don't know our budget limitations, so we'll have to wait.

I find Viana's action plan brilliant.
You've not addressed the issue of squad numbers, our non-HG status, Pep's preference for a smaller squad than the maximum we're allowed, & his preference to stick with the ageing, injury-prone old guard who've proved they can't stay fit for significant periods of a gruelling season.

We have a choice, our future or our past. It seems to me that Pep is opting to put his faith in our past. That's the very definition of keeping our fingers crossed & hoping the old guard can stay fit.

Now the question of legs. Even if the old guard can stay fit for the coming season, do they have the legs to last? Recent performances have shown they increasingly don't. That's the reality we're facing.

This is the job of the club.

The question you need to ask is, does Pep even want to get rid of the old guard? By the looks of things, I'd say no. That then becomes Manchester City's issue for the coming season.
