So when the old heads stay it's because of Pep, not their contracts and when one leaves it's the board...make it make sense. We qualified for the CL from a position where we had been absolutely dire. De Bruyne came back in and helped us get that job done.

Had we lost game after game then I would understand the criticism and concern, but we did what we had to and have been the form team since Jan. It's not been pretty but it's worked. Now it's about building from this platform and I trust the club to do the job. Time will tell.

Can you imagine the abuse he would get in the media and at games from away fans....it would make what Sterling went through looks like a kids tea party!!!

For that reason alone it will never ever happen. ......but just imagine it did!

Under any objective examination this is absolute tosh
City have won the Premier league six times under Pep.
On three of those occasions City have broken their transfer record to strengthen the squad.
Each of those transfers contributed both to winning a treble and an unprecedented four in a row league titles. One became a Balon d'Or winner.
After further titles we landed the most sought after centre forward and young centre back. Both also contributed to title wins after being signed.

We haven't always succeeded with our targets and a failure to successfully sign cover for Rodri has been costly this season and last summers dealings were less ambitious than previous seasons though we subsequently spent a lot of money in the winter window including the second top goal scorer in the Bundesleague.

Not all 'statement signings' work out Liverpool are probably regretting the money they spent on their statement signing answer to Haaland who was bundling in goals in the Cl.But they are probably not regretting the fact that they failed to sign Caiceido and Moses and ended up making do with Gravenbirch.

None of this is to say that I don't think it's a bit unfortunate that Wirtz has appeared to choose Liverpool over us, he sounds like he's a very good player. The idea though that we don't and won't continue to back our manager in the transfer market is utter nonsense.

MGW may win the ball back - its what he does with it when he has it that will be defining for him and where we need someone

And spending £100m on Grealish and £80 on Gvardiol. Might not do ‘marquee’ signings but we have spent enough on shite including nunes (who is so good he can’t play his position he was bought for and has been shoe horned to fullback after we had no bodies for that role), so maybe we should try a few more marquee signings ala Tevez, Aguero, Yaya, Sterling, Stones, Walker to name a few. We’ve tried others and missed out as well but I don’t think he will acknowledge that either.

I’m sure there was a spot on Wirtz on talksport weeks back when we seemed to be in pole position and the German expert quoted stats saying he’s basically brilliant at pressing and winning the ball back.
 
Do you think it be easy to do deals with Newcastle. I think with them in Champions League it be crazy money for anyone there. As for MGW them missing out might be easier to get that done but with the English tax on him.

We do back the manager and we do spend money but our focus especially in recent years seems to have been on the net spend trophy.

This isn't revisionism or hindsight but most blues would have said that £100m on Grealish was too much. Phillips & Nunes were never going to be good enough. Especially when the latter went to Wolves the summer before for less than £30m.

For whatever reason, in recent years we've not signed our first choice player. Rice, Kane, Bellingham all rejected us. Before that, Dias was our 3rd choice centre half, Rodri wasn't our first choice either. Go back further, we baulked at getting Van Dyke & Harry Maguire (LOL).

Transfers don't happen, I get that. And we can't force players to sign but Wirtz is a genuine world class talent, in a position we desperately need to fill. He's as close to De Bruyne as you can get and we've given Liverpool a free hit at him.

It's all opinions but for a team allegedly wanting to win the league and win the CL. Signing someone like MGW isn't going to achieve that. Especially with the substantial drop in quality in our squad.

You might call that "tosh", that's fine. Plenty of others agree though.
 
Yes Wirtz plays against parked buses lol, thats part of Alonsos tactics, people are clueless. Slow down (at times) the German game. Alonso doesnt want/likes to go up and down all the time.
MGW does not.
Just watch a Leverkusen game at home at you would know that.

Bobb has benefited from that time out - has got better and better the longer he was absent. That said he has huge potential but we need to ease him in and find his best position. Personally, I think he could become a number 10 but not yet. Foden needs time off until the end of the summer. I have some knowledge of his problems but I’m not sharing them here. The lad needs time and he needs to be managed carefully next season. I’m sure he will be back but it will take time. Class is permanent. Personally, I’d keep Kova but I’d let Gundo and Silva leave.
