It's Quiet the £250m return

Too many project players. Not enough world class replacements, we've lost world class or teetering on World class players and replaced them with downgrades and squad players. Especially on the wings, our wingers used to be feared by other teams.

Our wingers used to be criticised every single game on here. Sterling and Mahrez were deemed not good enough for us but now they were feared?

We also never bought world class, ready made players. Yaya was a defender before he came to us, Silva was deemed too small for the league, Fernandiho was an unknown for many from a team in Ukraine.

So much revisionism.

If we want to compete seriously this season, we’ve got to bring in more players: a solid keeper, wc winger, and a proper right-back.
That just about does it but I’d say another B2B as well if we decide Nunes and Kovacic are to be sold/ not good enough. If however Kovacic does stay we can get through but it’s still not ideal

Two well known facts about Donarumma

1. not good with the ball at his feet - he has made numerous mistakes like the one trafford made yesterday
2. he is no good under the high ball and almost refuses to come for crosses

So where is the bullshit?

Edit

Bigger problems - fullback areas, CDM area with a lack of physicality

Some just have their heads in the sand and want a shiny new toy.

Thats big big wishful thinking
I broke it down into likely and less likely.

I think a lot of our goings now seem likely which means I think we might be in for a surprise or two I have generally only included players that we have been linked with

Really?

If we go into the season with just Lewis as a RB it'll be a truly bizarre decision.
I think the bigger issue is us going into the season still using the failed inverted RB tactic.

I've asked repeatedly, but no one can name a RB who can play inverted & would've made a difference to us being overloaded against Spuds.

Like I said last week, the warning signs were there against Al Hilal & Wolves. Better teams & players will take us to the cleaners.

Really enjoyed that mate, cheers for posting. Wasn't at all pushing for us to sign this guy, I was happy to keep Trafford as #1, but I think I've just changed my mind.
There's a lot of folklore circulating that Ederson is a shit shot stopper & Donnarumma is shit with his feet mate. It's just not true.

They both come out on top of those considered the world's elite keepers.

It’s possible to play an inverted right back but that person needs good football awareness, ball control and huge pace. It also helps having a CH that’s very fast

We have not even been linked to Guehi

Now that would be a good signing but it has dippers written all over it whether this summer or next
Just paper talk I’m sure but these are todays back pages.

Sterling and Mahrez were world class for a couple of seasons. But many of us agreed at that time that Sterling started to regress and Mahrez started to become very, very inconsistent so it was time for a change. Getting rid of them wasn't the problem, it was who they were replaced with.

Yaya was 27 when we bought him and only lost his place at Barca because Busquets came along. David Silva was 24 and was one of the most sought after midfielders in Europe. We also signed Boateng in the same summer who was regarded as one of the best centre halves in Europe at the time.

We don't go into the transfer market like that anymore. We have a first choice target, spend ages being linked with them, deem them too expensive and sign our second or third choice. When was the last time we went all out and signed our first choice player for their position?

Maybe because no one plays this system, they use their right backs actually as right backs.

Some knee jerk reactions from yesterday. Out wide we have some good options. The keeper issue will become more clear by the end of the window. It's a bad mistake but it has happened to a lot of keepers here. No one is faultless but we need a confident keeper that can shake off the mistakes and remain focused. We could do with creative all rounder but with over a week to go and do many things can happen. Bring back Grealish 2 assists today lol
