Yeah I just feel it’s about narratives. Bobb has started both games and Pep raves about him. He didn’t play last year and now this year Savio wants out?
I do agree a lot of rotation will happen especially after the window when we are more settled.
Foden and Cherki are 10’s and I was delighted to see pep open to playing Cherki there yesterday but equally amazed he went for it so early on and against spurs. We will see a lot of games with a more structured midfield of Nico G (Rodri when fit)/Reijnders/Bernado. We will clearly play Foden and Cherki wide at times.
But all those arguments mean nothing if still bringing a player in, they’d still have to compete with all these players. It’s just all mindset. I’m amazed Savio has been completely excluded- something has happened and we will eventually hear about it. He played loads last year and if we didn’t want him to leave a public praise from Pep would give him the reassurances he wants.
We want to deal him, Viana has a different way of negotiating and maybe he like us all hates spurs/levy as well.
Yeah I suppose we won't really know much unless Sav stays and we say how he takes it. Him playing for a better deal and a world cup place could be a big asset for us.
I thought we'd go 4-2-3-1 all summer so it was good to see it but I wasn't expecting the ederson tactics without ederson or cherki, bobb, Marmoush and Reijnders to get absolutely freighttrained all game. Especially Tij - thought that was his kind of game. Less said about Haaland the better.
It's interesting to see Soriano protecting the long term - if Rodrygo doesn't turn us into title challengers over night is it worth giving up high potential players?
