It's Quiet the £250m return

Lahm and Alves did OK under Pep, not exactly giants.
Lahm played majority of his games as CDM from what I remember, also a hell of a lot stronger and more physical than Lewis.

Alves, physical beast of a man, rapid and strong as an ox. Still played well into his 30s showed what a specimen he was.

That cross the other week that Johnson gets to, Lewis has a head start and still treading water as Johnson puts it in the net. Alves cuts it out, you know he does.

Vitinha 5’8”

Lewis 5’7”
The famous RB, Vitinha. How could I forget.

No doubt we are well stocked at CB, the question will be about the quality.

That's subjective, but personally I'm not writing off Stones/Dias even if Dias has had a poor 12 months, and I think Josko and Khusa are the best young defenders in the league. So for me, we have both proven quality and potential quality. Plenty of depth.

Not been a shit show but it's not been good enough to win the league in my opinion.

Rodri will unlikely to be back to his best for another six months to a year. Anyone expecting him to be back to his best so soon will likely be disappointed.

So we needed another midfielder as Nico is too inexperienced for that role. Should have gone after Baleba.

Another solid defender too as we can't rely on Stones.

Think it will take another summer window to repair the damage of keeping players too long and buying substandard players.
Whilst I agree we won't see Rodri back to his best, we don't necessarily need that. His presence will deliver for us alone, as well as the leadership

I think the December - February run that he plays in is crucial to keeping us there or thereabouts in the chase for the title, and actually the Spurs turnaround for me is the point at which the team wakes up.

Thought it was common knowledge that Lewis was instrumental in Stones being able to step into midfield, which helped us go on to win it all

Totally agree about Khus, he should be starting now for me as we need the pace. Josko is an elite player. After that, as you say subjective.

Only problem with Stones is England. He's been called up, Tuchel is not going give a shit about City he will want to play his best eleven. Stones will probably be in that eleven. It's just can his body handle it. Just felt like whenever he got called up for England he returned with a knock etc.

I think Stones after missing nearly all last season should ask Tuchel not to pick him at the moment. After all we pay his wages.

I wouldn’t play him right back against to top teams but like wolves where he contributed with an assist! He is a top quality squad player!

So what’s your problem with Lewis then? He isn’t a world class right back? Weird attitude for a home grown blue to shit on him..

Pep has to be pissed off , Rodri has been called up to the Spain squad. He hasn't started any games yet for us but he's been called for the Spain games.

I don't think he is great at anything but he is culpable week in week out defensively. His fault that Pep plays him there, I guess not.

Quite phlegmatic in his press conference, so we just have to hope that de la Fuente uses Rodri rationally.

According to Croatia Gvardiol has a knee ligament injury that's why he hasn't been called up.

Serious re-writing of history here, I dont think Stones stepped into midfield once when Lewis played, because Lewis was doing exactly that. Stones stepping into midfield came when Walker (and Akanji at times) played right back and by proxy in a defensive 3 with Dias and Ake when we had the ball.

I dont hate Lewis, far from it, but i do feel he's nowhere near good enough to be a starting right back in a team challenging for major honours. Hopefully im proven wrong.

He is fine as a right back against certain teams and why he is a quality squad player.
