It's Quiet the £250m return

Tend to agree, but as I mentioned above, this first half of the season is punctuated with three international breaks and then AFCON, so it’s going to be tough getting a run of 10 games to judge properly. Lot will depend on how players return from international duty and whether they can maintain form across breaks. Given that and our lack of pre-season, we might be a bit staccato but then find our stride after the next window. All about staying in touch til then.

Hate the international break after just 3 games! Stones probably come back injured it’s probably why Akanji is cool on staying around..

It's just not baffling if no RB we considered a true upgrade was available all summer.

No RB has been transferred that we'd actually want.

I would imagine that the club would have been aware of the need though and you genuinely cant believe that Viana scoured the market from January onwards and thinks that Nunes is better than a host of actual right backs out there?

Indeed. If he reflects on his time here, he might think he’s got just as much chance of playing as if he went elsewhere. Will be quite something if Stones, Ake, and Rodri all come through 6 international games unscathed.

Statistically he is and Pep thinks he can play him there so yeah.

There's probably not as much difference between an industrious wide midfielder and an attacking overlapping wingback. Dribbling, pressing, strength, crossing and positioning (realistically the one he needs to learn most). At the end of the day players play in roles, I think we all know RB/RM is as much just something for the team sheet. Your average player can play maybe 2 or 3 roles.

I'm really not saying Nunes is the best right back on Earth, but I think his potential is possibly higher than the right backs actually available. And if we're happy to wait for Livramento, then not filling the spot with a worse older player who'll take a year to bed in is sensible.

Don't get me wrong if Kounde, Porro, Gusto had all moved this summer I'd think Hugo was daft not to be in on it.

But no clear upgrade on Rico and Nunes has moved or looks like moving.

I don’t think any of us thought in January that we’d be so close to the summer window shutting and still have so many players on the books.

And if Newcastle didnt want to sell Livramento, much like Inter didn't want to sell Dumfries, Barca - Kounde, Monaco - Vanderson, Palace - Munoz?

That's how we're here isnt it.

Also Dumfries and Munoz are the wrong age profile for the squad and Vanderson while being the right age profile isn't much more tested at the top level than Lewis or Nunes. It's not impossible that Nunes's potential ceiling at RB is higher.

You can only say we've "missed out on" players that have actually moved imo, and the list is terrible.

Ironically waiting for Livramento, if that's what we're hearing is possible is probably the best policy.
Mitoma up against our right back tomorrow, I’d like to think he goes with Nunes so it’ll be an interesting one to watch.

Thats true as well to be fair but it shows the mismanagement of the squad and what a tough job Viana has been left to try and sort and make us winners again?

Sadly it looks like we’re done as far as incoming transfers go.

In my honest opinion City don’t yet have the team or squad to mount a proper PL title and CL challenge this season. I think the best we can hope for is a 3rd or 4th finish in the PL, and either winning the Carabao Cup or FA Cup.

I don’t want pelters off anyone, but that’s my honest opinion. Hopefully I am wrong and City can beat Liverpool, Arsenal, and maybe even Chelsea to the PL title?

I'm a happy clapper and I agree.

I think the incomings weren't enough. The midfield is full of technicians and inexperience and will be easy to play through.

The club is gambling on Rodri being back to his best very soon. If he's like van dijk it will be next season that he's back to his old self.

In Doku and Savinho we need them to improve drastically and not sure they will. Hopefully Bobb becomes the player for us we all hoped he would.

I do think the concern about right back is overblown. We didn't have a left back for years and did well.

My concern is the club is again hoping Stones stays fit but a stiff breeze sidelines him.

From thinking it’s going to have been a crazy week of ins & outs, it seems mental to get to Saturday morning and have a sum total of cock all having happened.

Good old City.

Pep said weeks ago he thinks we were done in the market. When he says that it's true.

Only possible incoming is the goalkeeper and that's if Galatasaray stops pissing about.

Not with regards outgoings which if you watched his presser yesterday you’d have seen what he said.

Apparently Cherki and Foden are out. Reijnders is going to be our sole midfield creator. Do we need another midfielder?

Have sympathy for Viana. At the same time, one does wonder how this summer’s difficulties have affected other contract agreements. Will we be here in summer 2028 questioning the logic of extending Dias’ contract through to 2029? I’d like to think we’ve started inserting clauses into renewals based on playing time in later seasons, which might make shifting barnacles easier in the future.

Never mind summer 2028, I’m questioning Dias extension now, lol.
