This is such a lie from Messi, if he had a contract stating this nothing depends who keeps their word or not, if the contract did not state this then was he going by the word of Barto? Is he stupid or what?

I think what was said before he had the option to leave until June 2020. He did not leave until then means he lost that option. You can do the mumbo jumbo that covid delayed the season etc, but that belongs to the court to decide which he is not interested to go for.

If he missed the deadline even in all season he felt he wants to leave well its his mistake.

"The president always said that at the end of the season I could decide if I wanted to go or if I wanted to stay and in the end he did not end up keeping his word."

What, by paying him what they were paying him last season? Many on here think him coming to us was commercial genius, due to the revenue he'd bring in, but Barca keeping him is a bad decision? How does that work then?

It's quite simple... he earns Barca a fuck load but they have spent it/are committed to a lot more than that so go further into debt regardless. We sign him and he brings in extra revenue. As long as we don't spunk that by buying Grealish for 300m and giving Aguero and Fernandinho 1m a week until they're 40 we are just better off.

Messi will keep his options open by not signing a new contract until Bartemou has been ousted, then new President in sells a dream and a project to Xavi and Messi, and Messi signs new contract to end his playing days at his beloved Barca. Bartemou really doesn't care about 100 million if he keeps Messi at Barca as player. We all know they could be billions and billions in debt and no action would be taken against them no Spanish bank will ever call in Barcas marker, nor Real Madrid's either. if any clubs are state owned then its those two.

Not been an optimist but this is more on than at any point in this process, his fathers letter, his fax, his statement is damming, upsetting his family so strong was his beliefs, let down, club in a shambles etc etc etc, now a bid and Barca can grant his wish “reluctantly “

He's talking about a board who hired a PR company to create thouands of social media bot accounts to attack Messi, his wife and family, and his closest friends to try and turn fans against him.

He's talking about a board who have used a global pandemic to fuck him out of a contract they agreed to, not only on signing the contract, but verbally confirmed when he told them all season he was leaving.

He's talking about a board which used the club as a shield when their corruption and fraud got exposed in the Neymar case so that they avoided jail, but the actual club of FC Barcelona now has a criminal mark against it.

He's talking about a board that inherited the best team in the world and racked up 800m losses and have taken the club to a perilous financial position, not to mention failing time and time again to manage the playing squad correctly. Oh and a president who is currently investigated by the police after his boss was jailed for 2 years.

A board that told Barcelona's 3rd all time top scorer that he was no longer wanted at the club by text, and tried to break the contract without paying the €28m wages they owed him (Suarez).

He went lightly on them. They deserve much worse, and every Barcelona fan is applauding and cheering him finally speaking out about the board.

All true. Still part of the club, still reflects on the club. Might be good intentions, but he's aired dirty laundry in public, while claiming himself the saint.

And i held off saying more in the last response, but in the future, like this post above, if you have a comment to in reaponse to me , whether it is agree disagree or call me a prick, use first person, rather than that blanketing third person shit earlier.

I can't use the first person when I'm talking about Messi's actions. I'm not him.

I don't see the need to insult Messi I can understand his decision. I don't think he played us. If you look at it from his side he has said he wanted to go but the club did not honour the promise they made to him. Everyone here is shocked at the way Barca have treated him it wasn't unrealistic for him to assume he would be treated with the same respect that Real treated Ronaldo. I never believed he would be the type take Barca to court because Barca is more than the board it is the fans as well, do you think Kompany or Silva would do that to us, I don't. Bartameu has proved he will make decisions that will save his neck rather than benefit the club so how far will this idiot go. I wouldn't want him to play here with the threat of a court battle hanging over City and Messi it just adds more pressure. I can understand his decision and for the sake of a few months he can leave no matter what for free is it worth it. I think he truly believed he could come here but Barca board shit on him that doesn't mean he is a coward or betrayed anyone he probably was acting in good faith.
It might be an idea to calm down and take a breath before slagging him off. I think taking Barca to court was just a step to far for him which I can understand.
Your last para says it all! We can only feel we've been played if he signs a contract extension at Barca. In January he can sign for MCFC and join in June for free! Why would you want to go to court when a little bit of patience gets the deal done without stress!

Messi is paid €1m a week or whatever to play for the club he apparently loves. If he continues to refuse to train or starts playing terribly, why would the fans blame the president? He doesn't put a shift in on the pitch and they'll turn on him

If kun made it absolutely crystal clear and didon’t want to be here would you be any way shocked if his performance level dropped? I wouldn’t! Keeping a player against his will is the smallest of small club mentality, which is why it is mind boggling Barca think that’s a good way to go. How can you blame a guy for playing badly in an environment he’s openly stated that he doesn’t want to be in?
