I’m not opposed to moving mahrez on if the money is excessive and we have a better fit lined up to replace him. I don’t think either of those are likely so no reason to get rid.

If Madrid do declare their interest any conversation should start with varane and how much on top?

Ferran Torres needs to play more than a bit part and we have Foden, Bernardo and Jesus that can rotate any time. If true would be a good time to cash in and free up space for defenders.

Not sure how much more space we can make for defenders we currently have 3 left backs, 3 right backs, and about 7 CB’s whereas we have 3 wingers. If anything we need to be freeing up space for another winger on top of any replacement that we be required for any more outgoings.

What ever

How about £60 million plus Bale on loan for 12 months with them paying half his wages and then get Messi on free in 12 months. We make an accounting profit and make get a replacement. They get what they want They get to play Barcelona without Messi we gain a couple of years breathing space to find the next big thing to replace Mahrez / Bale / Messi for the wide / forward position

I think you will happy when you see Torres in a City shirt - a very dynamic winger.
I very much am, I'm glad we actually managed to get him, he looks a proper talent that could be immense under Pep, Lucho giving him his senior debut for Spain says a lot about his quality already. I'm only basing it off other attacking signings we've made in the past, who've taken at least a season to settle and understand our needs and then kick on the season after. Could be wrong with Torres of course. Would just hate for him to be unsettled and given more responsibility than he can handle initially if a senior winger exits side.

Whilst I understand the point that Mahrez isn't quite a good fit (neither was Sané btw), he's still an immense direct attacking outlet. His underlying numbers on these fronts put him only 2nd behind De Bruyne in the entire league for last season.

Given where the team's at right now, on top of the consistent need for attacking variety and a "clinical" edge at times, I don't think we're in any kind of position to move Mahrez on. The only exception is if we can find someone who can match or even beat his productivity from the same or similar position, so basically only Messi, and maybe Sancho. But I don't see either of those happening this summer.

Besides, the club's already stated Mahrez isn't going anywhere, so unless the player himself kicks up a fuss I'm inclined to believe the club on this one.
