I don't think you're giving anywhere near enough credit to our players or manager.

I'll repeat some facts. Dias is better than Otamendi and younger and is considered a leader and an organiser. Ake is a better player than NOBODY, which is what we had last season. Torres is a better player than NOBODY which is what we had last season. Ergo our squad is MUCH stronger than last season regardless of the current Scouse wankfest.

People can be as pessimistic as they like, but so far all those "opinions" have stunk of people just marding it up that the transfer list they had put together wasn't put into action.

I'd like another left back but we have at least three players who can do the job in differing ways.

If our best players stay fit most of the time, we can prosper gain this season. Pep needs to make a few tweaks to reduce the chances of us giving up counter attacks and then it is down to the players to perform and be clinical.

Look pal you won't convince me otherwise. It's been a shit window (AGAIN MY FUCKING OPINION) and it'll be proved correct when we struggle again this season.

You're bigging up Dias like he's some VVD (Hope he is) he hasn't played a fucking game for us yet and he's not even the 1st choice Pep wanted.

Ake again will be squad rotation, I'll agree he's better than Ota.

We have a 35 year old Fernandinho still playing a major part in our side.

Aguero is a crock and will miss many games

Silva not replaced (don't give me the Foden bollocks)

We're left with 1 LB and continue to use a midfielder / RB as cover

But ye we're stronger than last year haha.

Yeah alright, we're done here mate. I wish you all the best with all of that.

My goodness, I think there is going to be a lot of disappointment come the end of the season. No doubt Pep will be the misplaced target of that frustration. I don't think our squad is as good as some people think it is. I have seen very little to suggest that Torres will be everything we need in attack. Not recruiting an athletic CDM this window will be proven a fatal error come the end of the season. We can probably make do at LB, but we have serious problems in the centre of that midfield, especially given the attributes of the RCB that we did sign. We'll still be complaining about that defence because it will be afforded zero protection.

I think the idea that Pep has always just wanted a CDM in the image of Rodri is nonsense. He clearly knows the value of a Fernandinho-type player, otherwise the 35 year old wouldn't be playing! He has said, on more occasions than I can count, how valuable Fernandinho is to this team. I don't think you can have success in this league playing with a single CDM (or even a pair) of Rodri/Gundogan. Not unless your back four is perfect, you have the pace in defence to deal with balls over the top and your pressing is incessant.

My best guess is that we'll finish 2nd again, with another poor UCL run. However, I think the gap between 2nd and 4th will be much smaller this year and we can easily fall into the top-four scrap. A long term injury to De Bruyne would be absolutely catastrophic.

Its been average window with many weaknesses and question marks remaining in the squad.

Only 1 LB in the squad, Rodri looks good against immobile teams but against mobile teams he seems exposed, Fernandinho is 35, Aguero's replacement in no sight.

We are also 1 body lighter in midfield compared to last season. Gundogan isn't really good enough for us either on top of this.

Zinchenko staying is another sign of making do with players who simply are not good enough.

Hopefully Dias is the perfect fit for us, but remains to be seen.

I really piss myself laughing when people say Gundo isn't good enough. Pep very obviously thinks he is but posters on here think they know better. He's also a regular for the German national side, under a manger who has won the World Cup.

Gundogan has his faults and, like Mendy, serious injury seems to have taken something from him but he has technique and intelligence of a very high order.

Oh I've considered it alright and I don't agree with it, that's it.

If you think we're stronger and we've had a decent summer then good on you, my opinion is we ain't stronger, we've had a poor summer and we ain't going to win no League or Champions League this season and that frustrates to fuck out of me :( yes I'm greedy :)

I've had my say and I can't be arsed getting into arguments with people that don't agree with my opinion so I'm going to leave it here.
Good to see a bit of optimism on.here..
Well

Pep said when dave left we have phil as his replacement , we have bernie for that position as well, we have mahrez, ferran and raz out wide , Aour was twitter talk wasnt it ? Should really listen to pep
You missed the point Kaz, it was looking at how the squad has improved, Foden and Bernardo, etc were in the squad last year.

I feel positive about the 3 signings and hope my optimism will only increase when they settle in, I do also believe we could have improved further by deals like Aouar (rumour or not) and a natural left back with Tagliafico touted at €25m.

You don't know where Dias was on the wish list because, as I saw another point out a few days back, Dias was probably not attainable at a decent price until Benefica were unexpectedly dumped out of the Champions League. City's interest in hims was far from new but only started getting mentioned again when his signing was imminent.

He's not wrong on Foden tho, has yet to play in the David Silva role. Should stop taking Pep word for word, maybe he has different plans for Foden this season.
He said phil was our new magician , i think right now he is getting them all match fit , i hope so as we need a settled team this year , the playing players out of position (aside from filling in leftback) is starting to seriously piss me off , making it harder for them does not help anyone, he should not always try and be a genius , just keep it simple
