I reckon if Messi has recorded a statement/interview then Bartomeu will be sweating bullets.

I imagine it will hit the notes of what Messi's given to and done for the club and how it'd be fair to let him leave on his terms.

Talk of Bartomeu putting the ball in Messi's court, he'll return it like one of those bastard Federer back hands.
Sticking with this

If he's recorded two videos, he can send them both to Barca and see which one they want him to release! Imagine if he's got proof they employed that company to discredit him on social media and anything else they've done.
At that point, surely you let him leave with a message from him thanking the club for everything they've done but about how he felt the need for a new challenge for the last few years of his career whilst the club thank him and wish him all the best at his new club, except in the CL 'all laugh now, because we're all friends here' big smiles together like it's the end of Naked Gun until the cameras are turned off.

The lack of class from Barca is appalling. What if Messi had said he was leaving before June 10th or whatever date is on his contract, fucking off before the Champions League was played? I'm sure they would have been ok with that......
The only thing with what you say, is that he wants to sign for a rival club, if Messi wanted out and was going over to the MLS or China, maybe things would be different?

Seems the game playing has begun from whats coming out maybe all but sorted come monday** then..

**(i am just being optimistic)

The framing of this is quite important.

It feels like the media have lost sight of the fact Barcelona had an agreement with Messi that he could leave for free if he told them on a date that has been about 10 days after the end of the season every year for 50 years.

A once in a lifetime global pandemic shifted the football calendar and moved the dates, so now Barcelona's board are trying to use that technicality to trap him at Barcelona.

Messi needs to speak publicly and frame it that way, and the fans will turn on Bartomeu. In the Athletic podcast they said that 20% of fans already thought he should be let go for free according to a poll on Wednesday.

Messi, if he wants to go for free, needs to speak out about it. And Puyol, Xavi, Pique etc. siding with him publicly and saying he should go would be very helpful too.

If the video piece from Messi is good, he'll make that 20% go up to 80% and the fans will be demanding Bartomeu doesn't desecrate the club even further by betraying the spirit of the agreement with their greatest player.

The British media and facts are not generally speaking overly well acquainted - in face they hardly know each other.

Stay tuned tonight, eh? So instead of running the risk of the biggest story in football leaking out, this kind person has decided to sit on it until later, despite also asserting they know things have changed.

These people...

Any new updates Tolmie? Barca board trying to act strong
