Whoever’s running Barca, it doesn’t change the fact that they need a complete overhaul, they don’t have the money to do that and even if they did, ffp won’t allow them to do it quickly enough. time is not on messi’s side, he needs to be at a club that can realistically go into the season as challengers for everything, that’s currently not Barca. Any attempt to force him to stay against his wishes would surely see a severe backlash from the fans who idolise him.

Can you imagine if david silva had a 1 year extension option this summer that we activated against his wishes? You don’t treat your legends like that and there’s not a bigger legend in the game than Messi at Barca.
