No it only relates to essentially buying out a player with a year left on his contract if the selling club asks for too much in terms of a transfer. Doesn't matter if they refuse or the player refuses to play.Doesn't the Webster ruling only apply if the club holding the player's registration refused to play him?
Im sure the Webster ruling came in because his club wanted Wigan to pay £5mill. Think they ended up paying £600k or something like that
