It's Quiet thread 14 - 'do one' edition

So for the first time in a while I went on the MCFC reddit to see if there was any news there that wasn't posted on here (spolier: no, but they probably get their news the same time as here).

Anyway what I really noticed there whilst browsing is the reverence they have for Sam Lee and how dismissive they are of Tolmie. The general opposite of this forum.

Solely an observation, I'm not trying to make a point. Other than me wanting to say I find it interesting how two different City discussion boards can feel so differently on something. I wonder what other differences there are there?
Probably because Sam Lee is somebody they can put a face to on Twitter, and as most posting on Reddit will be from the far flung corners of the world they wrongly believe the Manchester Evening News is relevant.
Tolmie doesn’t need platitudes from a load of dickheads tbf.

I had a small road trip yesterday and decided to sign up for the 93:20 podcast so I would have some listening material. The first of the four Messi ones included Sam as a guest and I have to say after listening to that my opinion of him has gone down considerably. Not only does he seem to know fuck all, he may have the worst radio presence of anyone in the media I've ever known. It was cringe-worthy how bad he was.

And once he makes a public statement, it's very difficult to unwind. People don't forget and they have egos.

Barcelona have already made one miscalculation if they have forced Messi into confict with their club. The image of Barca as a footballing model was hard own over many years. They don't want to rubbish it overnight.
It’s interesting to draw parallels between the two clubs. Both exited CL through underperformance, both second in the league to main rival.
Messi wants to leave and they have destroyed the relationship between club and club legend.

I would like to think if Kun had done a similar thing this summer we would have been naturally disappointed but both fans and club would have acted with grace and treated him with the respect he deserves. There is no way on gods earth we would have treated him the way Messi is being treated.

Well If Real or Bayern or a direct PL rival would want to take Kun for free this summer, I am not sure City fans would be happy with it and let him go free because of what he has done for us. Even if Kun would ask to go for free.

Its all about the option in his contract which is a very special thing to be put in contracts, if that is not valid anymore legally, then Barca is correct to hold out for a big fee.

Messi should have activated it before it expired or have a written proof from board he delays to use it given Covid moved the season end date to August instad of May.

wish I wasn't banned from the media thread but it is what it is.

Amazing that the British press only mention this transfer when it's bad news
