FIFA authorise the transfer and then Barcelona, or maybe even La Liga?, can sue City.

It could start again.

If FCB know that Messi is about to press the button, they may negotiate. Ideally I don't think City, Barca or Messi want to go through the courts.

Maybe.

I was under the impression that previously FIFA had set a value on a player in similar circumstances.

Then one party chose to challenge that in court.

If Messi is correct, perhaps FIFA can set the value at 0? If so I'm not sure there would be any point Barca going to court. But both those are my guesswork.

Slightly different topic. We aren't in fir Thiago are we?

Apparently Wijnaldum to barca is done for 30m. Bayern are asking the same amont for Thiago

£30mill for Gini and £90mill for mane sounds very unlike Liverpool

Messi's legal team are lodging papers with FIFA today. They want their man on a plane to Manchester by Friday.
if what you say is true Tolm, and the Messi kid arrives on Friday, can we all lobby the club to arrange a quick friendly game next Tuesday, at say..... Stoke (if it's raining that night). just to finally put that trope to bed?

Those were my initial thoughts but it has been stated on here many times that Messi would come from a separate contingency budget and wouldn’t affect our other business

Drom my point of view its not really a money thing (I think we'll have done our sums extremely well), more a time constraint thing before other people get to those who would naturally be our targets.

I just hope that we aren't concentrating all of our efforts trying to get this over the line, because none of FIFA, UEFA or La Liga have any interest at all in Messi coming to City.
