Personally I'd like to see him leave on a free and for them to get nothing, a real 'up yours' to Bartomeu. I've said a few times, whatever the technicalities they're clearly betraying the spirit of the clause by playing these games with him.

But a negotiated compromise would put it to bed and stop endless stories questioning the legitimacy of the transfer, so there's that.

In our media it will never be a legitimate transfer - the 2 million a week story will run forever.

Friday is now Messie day.
Partner at work all day (check)
Snacks and drink in house (check)
House to myself (check)
Dog will need walking errrrr need to take him to relieve tension (check)
Flightchecker available (check)
Hopefully we will have guys at the airport.

What a bob on day that could turn out to be. If it isn't Friday but earlier some of the above might not apply :-)

This seems so blindingly obvious that you'd think Messi's camp knows whether they're in the right or not here? It's quite cut and dry. Date - Barca win. No date - Messi wins. Surely any lawyer advising him would know this too, so why would he have gone so strong if he wasn't certain?

In the heat of the moment people distort facts to support their argument and convince themselves they are right. Didn’t UEFA do exactly the same thing?

Hey guys,i know i am not tomie but as a barca who has been reading these threads during the last couple of days and has known how barto and messi operate, here's my two cents on how things stand at the moment and what could happen.
1.Messi would not be missing training if he and his lawyers did not firmly believe he is no longer a barca player. This is not a pressure tactic. The question boils down to two things.
(a)Can he leave for free?Or more likely, they have to negotiate a fee with barca which if not possible, they would go to court and ask them to settle a fee.
(b)His contract with barca is no longer there and he just leaves for city.Later,a court battle starts between city and barca to decide if they have to pay any fee or not.
(c)His actual fee if it goes to court or Webster is invoked might be near the ronaldo fee or slightly higher and the fact that he has only 10 months left on his original contract at the time of termination notice(Sent a few weeks back).
2.Barto doesnt want to stain his legacy further by being known as the one who let messi go.No sane person will offer a contract extension to someone who isnt even appearing for training. This is a posture to show to the fans and socis that he is doing his utmost to keep messi. He is likely hoping that messi wont take up a route that forces the club in a legal battle.
