Did you read it? I think it’s a pretty good article.

Statement: City’s problem is defence: TRUE

Statement: City’s weakness is without the ball: TRUE

Messi is not known for running his ass off in games anymore and press the opposition, so no matter how excellent he is at attack, our pressing would get worse with him on the field, something a side like Liverpool could take advantage off. On the positive side, Messi with his insane skills will probably unlock most teams we’ll face.

If he in fact join us, it’ll be VERY interesting to see how Guardiola would handle Messi when realizing we’re lacking press up front. Can we expect him to run his legs off until he’s 35?

Messi is a wonderful footballer, but not all of his attributes will be beneficial.

Most of the points raised by Wilson have been already discussed here. They are legitimate. It won't be easy for Pep to accommodate Messi without weakening our high press. The solution is to surround Messi with pressing machines (Foden, Bernardo, Jesus, KDB...), at least in the more difficult games.

Stop worrying about getting a defender,it will be sorted
Messi will be rejuvinated by his move and freedom ,he will have runners all over the place

This is a very good point that’s not been mentioned, Messi has still performed while not being happy in his surroundings or with his situation. Team him up with our squad, Pep, the fans all showing love and admiration and watch his head lift and his energy rise. People say he’s slow or past it but he needs an injection of life and joining gods own will give him that!

Well miss bum bum says she will support whoever Messi plays for, another plastic! in her case quite a lot of it !!!

But goes to show many will follow suit and we will increase our fan base overnight. That equals shirt sales, demand for tickets and ultimately revenue proving he’ll be worth any outlay we make.

Not sure I like the sound of this deal.
£375k a week - no problem
But then we’re giving him £180m of shares on top, plus any players we’ll be giving Barca too.
might as well just give him his £1m a week.
Or am I missing something?
thought sponsorship would cover his wages?

How many clear cut chances have we missed in the last 3 years? I'd put a wager on kev getting 40 assists+ next year with messi smashing salads record. Who needs defence if you score the 6 big chances per match you make?

I'd argue that our problem last season was actually just putting the ball in the net at important moments, which as it happens, Lionel Messi is quite good at.
