Nicely slid in under cover there :)... no other Barca players under contract after the end of this month would interest us.
...
The only players going to Barca would be Laporte or silva, both potentially looking for a move for different reasons, or Sterling if he has come to an impasse with the club on contract talks.
Gundo could be an age related refresh job for us but any of those midfielders going frees up the space for Grealish (wages and squad spot).
I don’t think we are doing a swap unless it’s for De Jong - no other Barca players under contract after the end of this month would interest us.
How would Barca afford our players ? Well if it was a loan with agreement to purchase next summer it would really help them out - now if only there was only an unrelated but friendly funding source that could assist them……
Barca becoming CFG friendly would be a great help going forward; and this all might help city politically, financially and from a footballing point of view in years to come.
Desperate to all this I also think we are going all out for a striker and there might just be a reason why the haarland to Barca talk is not hitting the headlines it once was.
If you think long game this all makes sense.
Pure conjecture in the main but could make it a very interesting but brilliant summer for city fans.
Having just listened to the video with castles discussing the Bernardo situation he basically says Atletico very interested in Bernardo and he sees in the future atletico offering us felix in exchange as we are interested in him and he wants to leave.
He goes on to say he is hearing villa expect grealish to leave to go to city and are targeting Smith Rowe as a replacement.
After hearing that podcast I wouldn’t be surprised to see Bernardo out felix and grealish in and no Kane or haaland.
For the record Soriano and Laporta had a pretty big falling out when Ferran left Barcelona. Around the time of the elections I think Ferran went on Catalan Radio and endorsed Victor Font too which must've pissed Laporta right off.
Obviously Txiki and Pep seem to have a better relationship with Laporta but I don't envisage a situation in which we do them any financial favours. The Gamper Trophy is a bit of PR and a decent enough pre season friendly. Beyond that I fail to see how Bernardo lands at Barcelona.
I wouldn't mind this to be honest. If we're so intent on playing Gundogan as a holding mid, then might as well have someone that actually plays the position. Gundy + Bernardo/Laporte should do it. It improves their squad depth and lets them essentially get players for free.I don’t think we are doing a swap unless it’s for De Jong - no other Barca players under contract after the end of this month would interest us.
Named "the Kindergarten transfer thread" :)Can we have a separate transfer forum for those who believe everything they read on twitter?
How can you build a long term relationship when they change Presidents every few years who may have a different agenda and opinion of CFG?Personally I think you are under estimating their desperation and financial position.
Won’t be city doing them any favours but our owners have interests in other lines of business that might.
The Gamper Trophy is PR and an option born out of safety as much as anything else you’re right I think but it shows almost a ‘courting attitude’ towards us or those around us as a club.
I still maintain that a CFG friendly Barca is a good thing long term.
