Would it be such a bad thing if we promoted Delap in to the first team with a couple of others from the under 23's, and that was it this summer?. Pep only likes a couple of strikers in his squad so assuming Jesus stays, it's him and Delap I feel.

It wouldn’t be if we only had the ambitions of someone like Aston Villa or Southampton. If we’re going to continue to try and be the best and aim for the CL we need to continually improve the team, especially with losing our world class striker.

We are one lethal finisher away from being almost unbeatable. Look how many chances we create but miss. Haaland (or Kane) would solve that.

I'd rather see that, and pep follow through and not sign anyone at crazy prices, than signing a make do player or a lesser player for a fair chunk. If it were to get to that.

Still think it won't though.

We haven't lost our world class striker this season,we lost him the season before, he hasnt contributed for over a year, aguero you see now isn't the aguero of the past, people need to let it go, he has had his time, if delap comes in and scores 2 goals in the next year he would of contributed more than sergio has for the last year, it sounds like i don't care about sergio nothing could be further than that, I love the bloke for what he's done for the club, but he needs to go, finish his career somewhere he enjoys and us city fans need to move on

I've still got this gut feeling he will produce one more moment to secure his legacy at the club, not that he needs to

Because Delap at least is a long way yet from being a first choice striker. Certainly has it in him and I've no doubt we'll see more of him next season (along with one or two others).

We've lost one game in the last what, 28 of so? winning 24 of them. We are almost unbeatable as it is. And that is without sergio.

I think we have to be careful about taking what has been an exceptional run of form in a strange season and projecting it forward as the 'norm'. We have been exceptional for various reasons, but we haven't been perfect and probably the biggest weakness even in that run has been a lack of clinical finishing from the forward players.

In the Champions League for example where chances are few and far between the further in the tournament you go, the margins between success and failure get finer and those weaknesses can be exposed. That's not to say we can't win the lot this season, just that I think it's still very important to strengthen the 9 position for the challenges that lie ahead in the next few seasons.

Was good to see Pep rattle off the False 9 options in his squad yesterday. He isn't buying another one of those unless the player's name starts with Lionel and ends with Messi.

Oh that was in no way a 'we don't need to strengthen' suggestion. I've been wishing we sign a true centre forward for a while now, even when aguero was fit and firing.

It was more a Pep's claim isn't a hollow bluff, he can back it. And also, we are not nor should we be desperate, we can be calm and confident in the summer dealings.

I’m sure this has been said but people are reading far too much into pep’s comments.

I wouldn’t be surprised to hear a statement along the lines of this in a couple of months “we had an opportunity to sign a top top player. Players like X don’t come around too often and we decided to make the move. Man City don’t often pay large amounts for one player, consider this a one-off. However the player is young and we feel he can progress and become one of the best players in the world. We consider it a sound investment.”

I've always been easy come easy go about who we sign, I'll leave it to the guys up top, they've done a great job so far. My one dream would be to get Messi though, that would be a come in the pants moment.

I'm not sure what people were expecting or wanting Pep to say?
