Bertrand would be a cheaper option who would be more than happy to sign as cover. The otherside of the coin is the next left back has got to be good enough to challenge Zinchenko. Bertrand isn't good enough for that,

Not quite. Similar end product but he’s not physical, quite slight in build. He’s incredible on the ball in fairness and quick. Not sure he’s really good enough for a top side though.

A genuine question, How good is bertrand ? I mean he is no Prime Marcelo but is he any worse than Mendy ?
Yes he was ravaged by major injuries but he is really awful. Ofcourse I wouldn't want any of Mendy or Bertrand against PSG or Bayern but against a Norwich/Newcastle or even Everton - Who would be better ? Mendy or Bertrand.

Maybe I am just so disappointed at Mendy that I am getting biased here

As much as I dont rate Mendy and want him gone, I dont think we will be replacing him......I think Zinchenko has nailed the starting spot for left back...Pep has turned him into a decent left back (and has a past history of doing this) and unless Zinch is unhappy at playing there (which i seriously doubt as he has refused omves away from the club and seems very happy) then I would say Zinch is now our first choice starting left back

We also have Ake, Cancello and even Laporte that can play there so even if we somehow mnaged to offload Mendy (and someone was stupid enough to take him off our hands) then I dont think we will get anyone in unless its some kid (llikethe one we are looking at)

He's a faster version of Zaha with slightly sexier skills.

Not sure his end product is up to par though.

We wanted him years ago didn’t we? Same summer as Walker/Mendy. Dani alves’ u-turn shafted the deal as we had to buy Danilo instead.

Seemed a decent option back then but can’t say I’ve seen much of him in recent years. On a free could he be any worse than Mendy..
