Cheers. Tbh its because maybe I dont really know much! I rarely hear much but when I do I can trust it because it's literally from someone who works v close to high level players. They can't not know things given their job. They always just tell me it exactly as it is too. If they don't know anything, they don't say anything.

Give Pep my love pal.

if this gets done, it'll probably be juve paying us 20m + ronaldo for bernardo, and ronaldo taking a more "incentive based package (win the CL/ballon d'or for a huge bonus)

*just an opinion, of course

City’s management team incompetent?

I kinda doubt that you’re qualified to comment but, go ahead and tell us all about your many years of buying up player contracts at the highest level, explain to us how you’d do a better job than they do and I might just park my incredulity and decide you’re not just a nutter having a tantrum about something they know very little about.

How many times do they have to miss out on top targets or go into seasons with key positions extremely light for you to see the transfer process is poor. If there’s no release clause we really struggle, even when there is it’s not always straight forward.

We have the absolute best manager in the world so we have won a lot of trophies recently.

You could add a Champions League or 2 if they’d filled the gaps at LB, DM and Striker when they should have.

It wasn’t so long ago these clowns had Pellegrini, Mangala and Bony stinking the place out.

We wanted a CB when Kompany retired and we were priced out of Maguire. We opted not to sign a plan B.
then next season it was Mendy-Garcia-Otamendi-Fernandinho back four at some points, and we were swallowing goals.

the next summer we were after Koulibaly, that failed due to transfer fee most likely and we opted for Dias who woke the whole backline up and helped Stones to regain form too.

I see this as similar, we are in for Kane, priced out of him, do we go without plan B?

and that was after a title win in 18-19, who would have expected us to be left behind 20 points by Pool the next season.
thats why I dont buy the theory of last year we coped well with false 9, will be similar this season.
yeah we won the league in 18-19 and next season were shit as fuck in PL. that happens and you need to be on top rather than hoping last year performance is enough.

But by the same token you have to accept it's football and some years we'll under perform. It can only take a couple of bad injuries and the season could come apart. Or one or two bad refereeing decisions. This club has definitely built us for a good future. We have a solid core of young players and some older wiser heads as well. There's room for improvement but you can't just throw £150m at someone in panic, if you feel their value is lower. In doing so we could price ourselves out of a move for another player in a key position in the future.

That's why we've heard Pep's been the driver behind Kane more than the board. They're much more focussed on continued improvement through the £40-60m players with potential re-sale value and with peak years ahead of them. Kane is huge money for someone that you're not going to be able to sell and reclaim profit from but they were willing to do it because Pep was so keen for him.

There aren't many top strikers around unfortunately. When you look across world football you can't name many that guarantee you goals. Kane was someone we were willing to pay big money for in spite of reservations, but clearly it wasn't enough still and we'll have to look elsewhere. I personally think a short term acquisition like Ronaldo makes a lot of sense. He'll piss off the rags which is worth the fee alone. He's a name that attracts fans from all over the world which makes commercial sense and he's a player that can bring in other big names. Having him for a year or two will not ruin the club and allows us to move for someone else next summer when there might be a couple more names on the shopping list.

Why does it have to be incompetence by management for Kane not arriving? Pep was keen, Kane wanted to come, his agent probably told us that had an agreement with Levy for a certain price. In our negotiations Spurs wouldn't accept our final price so we walked. We've had to do this previously with defenders and last year Dias worked out well. Hopefully we have considered other options. Goalscorers of the quality we require are fairly rare however.
