There was always a risk that Kane would not end up coming to City and I'm not massively upset about it. As I said before I just wasn't convinced it was the right move for us getting him in despite his numbers.

However we have left it very late in the day now and, Ronaldo aside, there's no obviously alternative which suggests for the club it was Kane or nothing. That beggars belief as I cannot see us getting away with another season without a top class striker on the books ready to play week in week out. We'll be there or thereabouts for the title have no fear but I suspect we'll struggle to win it now as it'll definitely be alot tougher this time round and for me Chelsea are the ones to beat and Liverpool will be there too. For me we're more the dark horses now.....

Haaland in January anyone? ;o)

Each and every one of our players outscored their xG values massively. That pretty much wont be happening this year.

So will see your toxic positivity exposed soon.
Not sure that was the case in the league. We outperformed our xG by 5, but on xG we'd still have been the highest scorers. We were also clear winners on xP too.

Sterling, Jesus, De Bruyne, Bernardo all scored below their xG. Gundogan, Mahrez, Foden each got three goals more than expected, and Torres was a goal up, but across all the forward players it's only a couple of goals extra between them over the whole season.

How many times do they have to miss out on top targets or go into seasons with key positions extremely light for you to see the transfer process is poor. If there’s no release clause we really struggle, even when there is it’s not always straight forward.

We have the absolute best manager in the world so we have won a lot of trophies recently.

You could add a Champions League or 2 if they’d filled the gaps at LB, DM and Striker when they should have.

It wasn’t so long ago these clowns had Pellegrini, Mangala and Bony stinking the place out.

Omar Berrada deals like a 1 armed croupier

We've not done too badly with our preference for players with release clauses. We like to know what we will be spending. If the release clause is at a level we're willing to pay we pay it. Clearly we struggle with other players because we're money bags City and we get screwed over. We do our best but you'd be fuming if the club bought one or two players at £80m for no reason other than the fact we had it, and then didn't manage to bring in more as a result.

Financially we're in a position where we've been able to bring in Grealish for £100m and look at Kane for £120m plus. That's quite ridiculous. And nothing to moan about. We wanted a striker but not for £150m. Plenty on here wanted Haaland or Mbappe over Kane. Maybe the board agree and think Haaland next summer with a release clause, or Mbappe who would be a free agent is a better deal for the long term and an extra £30m on Kane now for ultimately 12 months benefit isn't worthwhile when they can use that £30m as a signing on fee to bring in someone for a decade rather than 4-5 years.

Apparently we all wanted a striker who can deliver in that important moment and can carry the team in those games in which pep over thinks.
Lets forget Ronaldo was once a Rag.
Ronaldo will help us get the champions league.
PSG without mbappe and us with ronaldo .... we will be more likely.

Isn't that what we seem to have done here though? Levy got our best and final and said no.

And while we've cut it short, big complex deals like this usually go to the 11th hour -- if not 11:59. That we've given ourselves a week to move on to Plan B (and count me in the camp that thinks we need a striker) seems like about the best we could realistically hope for if we weren't just going to bend the knee to Levy and give him 150M.
I don’t know if that what we have done since this has been talked about for 3+weeks now. Seems we could have walked away after they refused a lot sooner imo. Regardless it is what it is. Hopefully wr get someone if not then that’s fine too. I still do think we need a striker

From what I read it’s his wages that are the issue.

Why does it have to be incompetence by management for Kane not arriving? Pep was keen, Kane wanted to come, his agent probably told us that had an agreement with Levy for a certain price. In our negotiations Spurs wouldn't accept our final price so we walked. We've had to do this previously with defenders and last year Dias worked out well. Hopefully we have considered other options. Goalscorers of the quality we require are fairly rare however.

it’s incompetence because our management listen to the wrong people.
We can all want a Big Mac meal but even if you are an employee there if the owner doesn’t open the door, you can’t get one no matter how much a staff member wants to sell you one.

city’s took levy’s silence as a negotiating tactic. Kane’s brother kept telling them it would get done.

we didn’t walk, we were completely ignored.

They were talking to the help and not the decision maker.
