Do you think Sterling is searing pace though, bud?

I think he is rapid over the first three or four yards when he stands a man up, or because of his intelligence to see the run.

After that, I am always seeing a player who cannot run away in a sustained sprint, like Foden.

If anything, I think he over rotates, panics at being caught, another reason why he maybe falls on top of the ball looking for the foul or wanting to cut back inside too early on to his favoured right foot.

He absolutely has searing pace but when it comes to running with the ball he's been showing the same hesitation that he's shown in other areas of his play and that's what has let defenders get back at him.

Reece James is no slouch and yet Sterling didn't have to sneak over his shoulder to get around him. He was in a good position and Raheem literally ran straight across the front of him and was gone.

With money tight for every club in Europe wont it be better for buying clubs to say have a 1 year loan deal with a club and a must buy for a fee both clubs agree with at the end of that loan. It’s a get around for player movements across premier and Europe maybe?…
You can’t have a ‘must buy’ without agreeing the fee up front.
Otherwise it’s nothing more than an agreement to agree (often termed a memorandum of understanding) which is nothing more than a commitment between the parties that the matter will be discussed at a later date to see if a workable agreement can then be reached.
Which, given that an agreement couldn’t be reached initially, is basically a triumph of hope over experience that has no contractual weight whatsoever and binds neither party to anything at all.

Sometimes it is natural for players to move on. Their time has come and they no longer have the desire or effect that the manager requires. It is not disrespectful to suggest that we lost games because Pep made allowances to accommodate Raheem in the side. All of our nearest competitors will strengthen before the new term and we have to go all out and change the dynamics of the team to maintain our status within the Premier League and hope for a better conclusion to the Chumps League. It is that time now, including anyone else that doesn't want to stay and fight for their place. My only worry is that Pep as his favourites despite form, he will always default to that even with rotating squad players!!

Ive never thought Sterling was rapid. Like you said, he’s fast over the first few yards but after that it’s an even game. Sane for instance ate all defenders alive, there was no catching that fucker in full flow. Sterling struggles against defenders that have pace and power.

He runs like a fanny and has the ball striking technic of an ostrich but when on form he sends most defenders into panic mode, mostly because they like Sterling simply don't know what he is going to do, he is unreadable.
I know I shouldn't laugh but I did a little...

Yes, Sane is what I would call rapid.

Foden is the one who continually surprises me.

He doesn't look quick but there are very few players in world football who are as quick when they are also running with the ball at close quarters.

Wan Bissaaka and James have him in their pockets every time, so I would agree.

I think he is to be fair mate. What would worry me with swapping Grealish for Sterling is both numbers and pace.

Whether Raheems detractors like it or not. He scores and sets up goals regularly. His numbers are better than Bernardo's, Jesus' and Mahrez on a consistent yearly basis. Sterling scores more than Grealish too.

We have a lot of nice technical players, but you need players who can stretch the pitch and hold the width. Sterling's movement and pace off the ball is the best in the squads IMO. His intelligence is vital.

I understand what you're saying about rotation and too many touches but we've seen what an inform Sterling does on that left side.

Like I've said. I think Grealish is right for this side. He brings tenacity, legs and has the quality to learn the pausa role. It just wouldn't be Raheem getting the can for me. We'd regret it.

We're so fixated on shiny new toys we often forget the quality of our own. Bernardo was rubbish for eighteen months. Mahrez has been consistent for five months. Sterling gets a pass and would get a new deal.
