My God there's some fanny's on here. That 'rumour' of £50mill for Laporte appears to have originated from an English speaking Spanish website Football Espana. The majority of their 'journalists' are Irish or British guys who have moved to Spain and surprise, surprise, there's not a single link to the 'source'. In fact they don't even bother mentioning a source...

I hope Laporte stays. Stones had a good season, but little mistakes were creeping into his game again and I think Laporte on form is a better player. The Stones-Dias partnership has been excellent, but I think our best CB pairing would be Dias-Laporte over time.

We'll see how they get on in the Euro's as both should start. The season has been intense, and we then have the Euro's before we're back into it. We could do with having options for the next campaign because yet again it will test the strength of each squad and rotation will be key.

Laporte has been fobbed off by Deschamps and then switched to Spain and he might, mentally, just be in a position where he can't deal with being second best at his club side and also wants a switch. The price quoted is ludicrous though.

Laporte in a no Covid era be worth in the bracket of 70/80m with Covid plus the players might of asked for a move 50m is ball park!

You are right… COVID should and will bring transfer fees down…. Due to the loss of income BUT there seems to be (so far at least) no COVID effect when we look at players… only when we are linked with selling. Txiki has a job on his hands.

Agreed about the source but there are direct quotes from the player himself that make these stories very possible.

Real and Barca both badly need CB's, Laporte would walk into both teams and be almost certainly a guaranteed starter, not sure he has any chance of the latter with us, as things stand.

The issue is could either team raise the transfer fee, again highly unlikely.

If true laporte may ask for a move , he should be told to knuckle down & win his place back on merit & not take the easy way out like a mard-arse .

If Laporte wants to go he will be gone, Pep has made it very clear he doesn't want any "bad faces" around the squad. Whatever the fee, its going to be a profit in the books for us and clears a big wage.

I’d be disappointed to lose Laporte. Class CB and levels above Ake.

Unfortunately there are going to be casualties when the club insists on having 2 top class players for every position.

You build a collection of players who all want to start and play the important games. Those who don't (and aren't willing to fight for their place) become unhappy and push for a move.

We've never had a squad as good as this, so it's something we're going to see more.
