In view of those figures, and knowing it will have been scaled back due the shit they are in , wonder how much they offered to pay Garcia ?

The salaries for Griezmann and de Jong in particular are absolutely insane. What were they thinking offering those contracts?!
I thought all their players were cules from the cantera of La Masia, playing purely for the club of their dreams because it is Mes Que. I’m sure some fella told me that once somewhere...

It's rare that players go into the last year of their contracts for many reasons, but mainly because the risk of injury is always present and a bad one puts a serious dent in what happens next. I'm currently looking at Messi dragging them into a title race and wondering to myself how he must be feeling. The new president is in, the guy who loves Leo 'like a son'. Yet there isn't even a real financial plan for the club's future, let alone Messi's.

Personally I think the longer it stays silent at the Barcelona end with regards a new deal, the more likely it is that it's just not happening. If there's a willingness on Leo's part to sign a new deal then he will have communicated that to Laporta. If there's a way to do that deal, Laporta will do it before anything else.

Finally, and something else which has been on my mind. What if Laporta, for all his words, simply doesn't want Messi to stay because of the financial liability. He can't sell that to anyone really, he rode in on the election promise that if he's elected Messi stays. What he has to do is stay silent and put his head down until the season ends and hope that no one notices the fact no offer has been forthcoming. Then lowball them with something insulting.

Of course all this could be confirmation bias because I want him. :)

For me it’s more likely that one way or another it’s all done and dusted, Leo likes things done on the QT and professionally, he’s pushing the boat out for a good season, Laporte can’t be seen to push him out but can’t afford to keep him so it’s either he’s staying and from next season on will own 15% of the club or he is leaving.

I think he’s leaving and going somewhere that has respect for bar Skank and the fans so is keeping things to the inner circle to make sure Leo’s ‘don’t want it played out in the press’ approach is satisfied.

It could very well be the case that it’s Laporte, Leo, Leo’s dad, a buying owner, chairman, manager plus three very very small legal teams that know what’s going on if he is leaving.

Now if I only I could think of a club that’s good at keeping silent about inner workings........

Madrid fans called him Agent Barto for a reason haha.

"
In October 2017, Moyet featured as guest artist on the Norwegian band A-Ha's acoustic album, MTV Unplugged – Summer Solstice, singing "Summer Moved On". The performance was recorded at Giske island in Norway in June 2017."

Giske is located just outside the Norwegian town Molde, Haaland played for Molde.

Easy.

Giske is also the sound a cat makes when vomiting a fur-ball.

Bit tight that they don't even pay Andriy Lunin a wage.

Does anyone alse look at those salaries, and just see pretty much meaningless numbers?

That is almost beyond the point of relating to real world figures.

Try to imagine it in bananas, say griezman spent an entiee week's wage on bananas. That is one big yellow mountain!

On a bigger scale, pretty much everyone on that list would be able to build a house a week for those wages and still live comfortably. Think of the amount of housing that would build. And yes I get that is football in general, but it still blows my mind.

Are we talking inflatable bananas here or what?

22 million medium weight bananas a week. Hopefully he doesn't see this post and get ideas as he'd probably end up creating a banana shortage and people wouldn't be getting enough potassium in their diet.

I like it.

It's a very strange situation IMO. I guess it was always going to be because of what happened last summer. FWIW I've always felt that Laporta has spoken out of hope rather than expectation when speaking about Messi's future. Even when he's been at his most gushing.

That title race in Spain can't end soon enough for me!

Tbf, they were necessary as stupid as they were.

Without offering Griezmann that kind of money, there's no way he's going to leave Atlético. He already turned them down big time once and it's a club that breeds loyalty.

With De Jong, that was the kind of offer necessary to keep him away from us if rumours are believed to be true.

It's essentially early ADUG City but on an even larger scale.

On a far larger scale, with no plan to grow revenue and hence absorb the costs bar 'hope for the best' and with no cash reserves capable of absorbing the losses without blinking. I'd say it's nothing like early ADUG City and just gross financial mismanagement.
